Bush's approval rating near his record low

Friday, March 3, 2006; Posted: 11:18 a.m. EST (16:18 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's approval rating is mired near its record low amid concerns about his ability to manage the government and pessimism over the war in Iraq, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Thursday.

The poll, conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, found Bush's approval rating at 38 percent -- down a percentage point from a mid-February survey and just a point above his record low of 37 percent in November. His disapproval rating was 60 percent, tying November's worst-ever mark.

Of the 1,020 adults surveyed, 59 percent of those interviewed said Bush can't manage the government effectively, and 58 percent said he is not paying enough attention to what his administration is doing.

They can't. The Democrat party is controlled by the loonie left, and owes too many loonie left special interest groups. The Democrat party is bankrupt of ideas, values, and integrity. It has been the jackhammer battering of propaganda for political advantage from the Democrats that has created some of the views now expressed, and what's needed is for the Bush administration to be more aggressive in informing the public of their reasons for the things they do. Bush took a hit he didn't deserve over the port deal for instance, partly because his administration waited until they were behind the eight ball to explain it, and partly because the Democrats saw a strategic opportunity for political gain and exploited it, at the expense of the country. And that's just one example, there are many others.

Bush isn't concerned with polls. It's a long time til elections. Things change.

Maybe he isn't concerned with polls because he knows things will change at the next election. What does Bush care who gets elected next time around? He's probably planning his big public speaking tour, which let's be honest will be pretty funny, if nothing else.

On a serious note, I really hope that the Dems can do something. A lack of credible opposition is bad for everyone, IMO. Although, to be honest, at the moment both parties appear to be vying for the least electable party award.

Finally
As for President Bush’s approval rating, ABC found it essentially unchanged since its last poll in January (41% approval now, 42% approval back then). So on last night’s World News Tonight, Vargas and George Stephanopoulos just ignored that number, seven points higher than the 34% “all-time low” in the CBS poll that every network embraced last week.

On this morning’s Good Morning America, however, co-host Robin Roberts claimed that ABC’s new poll had found “President Bush’s job approval rating has sunk to a new career low.” But isn’t he much more popular than ABC said he was last week?

Some of what ABC News didn’t tell TV viewers: Their poll found a majority (54%) said it was okay that the National Security Agency is “secretly listening in on telephone calls and reading e-mails between some people in the United States and other countries, without first getting court approval to do so.” Didn’t ABC tout that as a major scandal?

And, according to ABC’s poll, half of the public (50%) agrees that “the war with Iraq has contributed to the long-term security of the United States,” vs. 48% who say it has not. And, 62% said they favored how after 9/11 “FBI was given additional authority in areas like surveillance, wiretaps and obtaining records in terrorism investigations.”

But you didn’t hear that news if you watched ABC last night or this morning.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
