HOLY CARP!!!
|
Hey, bach. I'm hoping you can help me out. Last week when I went into the clinic, they gave me 500mg Cefzil (cefprozil), 2x/day (20 tablets) for suspected strep throat (now confirmed) and ear infection (in both sides. Fun.) That was last Thursday night. I'm still feeling really quite awful. For the most part, the sore throat is gone, but I'm just not right - I feel sick all the time, but not with any really definite symptoms. But here's the odd part. When I wake up in the morning, I have the sore throat and sore neck/ears that is a milder version of the "swallowing broken glass" feeling I get with Strep throat. It lasts until about an hour after I take my Cefzil. Same thing happens in the evenings - about 10 hours after I took my morning pill, I get the sore throat and stuff back and that lasts for about an hour after I take the evening pill. I don't have a sore throat in between though. Any thoughts? Shouldn't the sore throat thing be done by now? What's with the disappearing/reappearing act? |

i cant comment on the association with the pill taking, but its possible u have a partially treated infection, due to some anitibiotic resistance. u usually must complete a 10 day course of abx for a upper respiratory infection. although streptoccous is usually responsive, u may have a different bug in your ears. also, any abx can cause u to feel unwell, also some GI discomfort as the flora in your gut also gets zapped with the anibiotics. but my suggestion is to persist the full 10 day course, and then be re examined to insure u have eradicated any signs of infection. if u develop a fever on your current treatment, see a MD immediatly. |

So sorry to hear this Dol! ![]() I know that "swallowing glass" feeling. I describe as having a pincushion lodged in your throat. Throat infections are horrific. Any infection in the ENT can be a living hell. I hope you feel better very soon. Mark |
