John, in another thread, you referred to "Her Brittanic Majesty." Is this what you meant? ![]() Her original name was to be Gigantic, but was changed when her sister Titanic sank in 1912. Britannic was launched in 1914 and was put into service as a hospital ship for Great Britian during World War I. The Britannic was the largest of the White Star trio. She was wider than the Titanic and larger. She was 52,000 tons as opposed to the 48,000 of the Titanic. Britannic never saw commercial service and was lost on only her 6th voyage while serving as a hospital off the island of Kea, about 40 miles south east of Athens, Greece on the November 21, 1916. She was on route to the Mudros on the Greek island of Lemnos to pick up Allied casualties bound for Southampton, England. Of the 1,134 people on board, 41 were injured and 30 perished in the Kea channel. Tragically, the majority of .those who died were killed when their lifeboats were sucked under by the still-turning propeller as the stern of the Britannic started to rise out of the sea. The most likely cause of the explosion that ripped open her bow compartment was a mine laid by U-73 as she passed through the area on the morning of the October 28, 1916. However this still remains unconfirmed despite the efforts of the previous expeditions. She was discovered in the 1970's and was dived on in the1990's by Robert Ballard. He hopes to make an underwater museum of the Britannic which lies on her side in 300ft water. To date the Britannic is the largest ship on the ocean bottom. |

Thanks George, that was interesting - the fad for these monstrous ships didn't really work out too well. The Britannic Majesty I was referring to, however, was actually none other than our beloved Queen, she whose bodily waste is used as toothpaste in many of the aristocratic homes of England, whose purity is such that she has never even seen herself naked. God Bless Her Royal Wonderfulness. Hussah! If they track me down, I'm probably headed for a sticky end in The Tower. Just kidding, your highness. |

Naked, queen, pure....too many words. However, in my sick twisted way, this comes to mind. http://www.thisislondon.com/news/articles/14606176 The photograph first appeared in the London Daily Mail on November 10, 2004 under the headline, "Queen Is Exposed to Colonel's Highland Game." No private parts are visible. The story identified the officer sitting next to the Queen as Colonel Simon West of the 1st Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. "In his cap, jacket and spats, his hands on his knees and his ankles crossed, he sat proudly in the front row," the article states. "But unlike his comrades, he hadn't taken the time to adjust his sporran and kilt for decency. So the kilt flapped about for all the world to see. And judging by the grin on his face, the colonel knew exactly what he was doing." |

The one on the left reminds me of what they said about the dude in Berkeley who used to walk around naked: "You can clearly see this guy's nuts". |

This statement seems clearly wrong. Perhaps it was true at the time of the sinking but is certainly not true now. The first ship that came to mind for me that was larger was the Japanese battleship Yamato sunk near the end of WWII (Yamato (Battleship, 1941-1945)). Since then, a number of much larger ships have sunk, in particular oil tankers. A table here Oil Spills lists 20 major oil spills involving tankers and starts at 280,000 tons of oil lost. While not all may have involved the complete loss of the ship, I recognize several names that I know did. Big Al |

The original was no doubt "cleaned up" for publication much to the dismay of the gentleman pictured. Woman: Is anything worn under your kilt? Scotsman: I assure you madam that everything is in fine working order. |

I'm not so sure. I've rendered a lot of peni in my day. The perspective on that one just doesn't quite look right. Jodi

Just how does one "render" a peni? Is that covered in the Kama Sutra? |

When we slaughtered hogs, we would "render" the lard by heating the chunks of fat still attached to the skin and then squeezing them in a lard press until the liquid lard ran out and was allowed to solidify in the lard cans we stored it in. I do hope Jodi is not describing a similar process for peni. Big Al |
