well said! having grown up in both cultures, i can say that they differ GREATLY when it comes to booze. in the UK people are more open about drinking (in a good way) and i think it helps us kids realize our limits.

That's not actually what I meant, although I agree with some of what you said. The Brits do drink quite a bit more than their American counterparts, but I'm not at all sure they handle it more sensibly. The problems associated with binge-drinking are pretty widespread in England, at least, much more so than in the Eastern US (I can't really speak for anywhere else). My point was that a youngster, as I was in the dim and distant past, may drink quite heavily without being considered out of the ordinary, and for most Brits, as middle age approaches, providing the liver still works, moderation will in all likelihood take over.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?
