Two veteran astronauts, and the first Brazilian astronaut to fly in space, are readying themselves for the next Soyuz flight to the International Space Station.

And soon the ISS crew numbers will increase from two back to three resident astronauts for the first time since the Columbia disaster in February 2003, allowing the crew to devote more time to science experiments in space.

Although Brazilian Marcos Pontes will be visiting the ISS for only 8 days, he hopes to be the first in a long line of Brazilian space-farers. "Although I am the first one, the first astronaut, there, I don't want to be the last one," Pontes told reporters on Thursday. He will be performing nine science experiment – most related to nanotechnology – during his short visit to the station.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
