This 1418 map shows that they may have "discovered" america first...

No, no, no.

The Vikings "discovered" the Americas in the 11th century. The "Indians" discovered it long before that.

Columbus disovered in 1492 - so that it didn't have to be discovered again - ever.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

well, except that he didn't 'discover' anything. He, through some pretty major navigational errors, happened upon America. Hardly discovered. :silly:

OK, he showed up.

But no one had to show up "first" again.

LMAO! I'm going to print off this thread and use George's lines in classes when I have to teach the kids about North American explorers!

We cannot blame Columbus,
He did the best he knew,
Who could foresee the USA
In 1492?
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

That map that you show is a 1763 map. The map was made in that year (allegedly) from a map dating to 1418. The map is undergoing tests to see if it dates from 1763. Even if it does, all we have is the deceased mapmaker's word that he copied it from a map made in 1418. The original does not exist.
