we just saw something on tv that reminded me that most people probably had a favorite teddy bear or other stuffed toy as a young child. if so, what was yours, and what was its name?

i'll go first -- i had a blonde teddy bear named Nicky

I had a big stuffed elephant. It was huge (bigger than I was, at least), and he was stuffed and stitched by a good friend of my mother.

His name was Stuff-Stuff.

There was a girl in my Sunday School class whose name was Amy. I thought that was the prettiest name I had ever heard. So, when my big sister gave me a stuffed white bunny rabbit, I named it Amy. Later, I had a blonde baby doll named Amy. And a bear with a bow and yellow yarn curls named Amy. Good thing my second child was a girl...I was naming that one Amy no matter what :P

My mum made me a dinosaur when I was about 2 - to keep away the monsters. His name was "Rex" (yes, he was a T-Rex). I loved him. I carried him everywhere. He was missing an arm and an eye by the time I was about 8, but I loved him.

When I was about 10, my mum "accidentally" sold him at a yard sale to a neighbour kid for 25 cents. I still haven't forgiven her. :P

I had a black scotty dog when I was very little. I might have called it Doggy, but I was so small I don't remember. My mother dug it out of a closet somewhere and gave it to me about 20 years ago. Just a few weeks ago, my wife found it again while we were tiying up some closets and storage spaces. I told her to put it back, big sentimentalist that I am.

I had various dolls and stuffed animals, but nothing really stands out.

I did carry around my receiving blankets for awhile, though. I called them my "butnees." Yeah, I don't know either.

One of my children carried one of those around for a long time. We called it his nyaa-nyaa. Again, why I don't know.
