HOLY CARP!!!
:darthno:

I just updated to the newest versions of iTunes.

There is a HUGE ad at the bottom of the music library for the iTunes Music Store. So ugly, and I never use the iTunes store.

Fortunately, my brother showed me that there is an option in the 'Edit' menu to hide this advertisement.

This is like something Microsoft would do!

Time to buy more Apple stock. It's only going up and up and up....

Jack,

I don't give, or follow anyone's investment advice. My wife has an interitance from her mother that is professionally managed. I have never, EVER given the manager any investment suggestions (he's the pro, after all!)....except once.

I told him to buy Apple.

"Gee, George, I duuno. The company's in trouble and I don't know if it'll be there five years from now."

"Brian, just do it. Take $10,000 and buy Apple. Please."

"OK, but it's against my advice"

"I understand."

He bought $10,000 of Apple at $21. It tanked to $12.50. Then rose, and rose and rose. When it hit $37 it split. I called Brian and said, "Sell everything but the original $10,000."

He did, and then it went to $51, $70.

Today it closed above $80.

I did well.

You're a good investor., George. Some people (me) would always be kicking themselves about selling before it doubled again (and...?).

The glass half empty type. Speaking of which I had to be pretty much tied down by my brother when I wanted to put 10K into Google (its first IPO) . He just plain wouldn't tell me what to do and - well, it was my first investment. What did I know? (Only that I revere Google - except for their doofus-looking site decor - and use it ALL the time)

George, it will continue to do well. Steve Jobs has convinced me that he is smart, savy and a visionary. Gates is only the first two.

Good move on your part. Stay the course. Can you think of any other company that has been as nimble in changing course when needed? Excellent products well designed and priced at a point that does not warrant concern about margins. The competition between Dell and HP does not affect Apple.

There are a few stocks I have that have grown like a weed and I ALWAYS take back my money when it doubles or triples and never regreat that safety sale.

Had a conversationt with someone at work today. He asked me, "George, if I told you that I had an idea for a product that, within 5 years, would become a household word, would change the way we do things, would have 70% of the world market, and would increase the profitability of my company by 30%, what would you tell me?

"Bill, you're nuts."

"iPod."

The great thing about the iPod is that it reflects the excellence in engineering across the Apple line. Just look at how it's packaged. Brilliant. Easy to use, reliable, and it changes everything.

I love my iPod(s).

Just wait until they come out with the fully functional iPod/Phone.

THAT is going to change things.

The problem with the iPod phone is that people have different expectations of each device. My colleague's brother works for Motorola, and one of the big problems they had designing the iPod phone is that people treat the devices differently. They toss their phones on the desk, on the couch or table. Drop 'em on the floor of the car. Who cares? It's just a phone.

Their iPods are delicate devices. People take care of them, they're afraid to drop or toss them. That may be the basis of the Nano - durability at the cost of limited storage. It's only a question of time, however, before storage is a non-issue.

However, there are so many people making good cell-phones, does Apple want to enter that market?

My teen son just got the super-dooper iPod (for now, top of the line - but not the Nano, thank God. Would have been lost in a flash). He's a techno nut and couldn';t stop gushing about something called "pod-casting" (?). Apparently, it's the wave of the future. In line with your (pl) remarks about Apple's future.

Pod-casting??

I will say this, apple puts forth a special effort in their product aesthetics and user-friendliness. Now if only they can compete with the product flooding of Microsoft, they'd be sittin' pretty.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

IPod sales go into overdrive

Apple has sold more than 42 million units of the media player since it was introduced in 2002, Jobs said, and more than three quarters of all iPods were sold in 2005.

compare that with Worldwide Cell Phone Market Breaks 200 Million Unit Mark (that's quarterly sales)
