Well what a charming little man. Sounds like he could solve most of his problems by just turning off the TV. But he doesn't sound like he has quite the intellect to figure that out.

I got a laugh out of the article, but I'm curious about the apparent original google search for "american male pussification."

i completely agree!

also, i find it annoying that he assumes all women are the same... i like fox hunting (damn idiot Blair banned it! :veryangry: ), shooting, riding (which is the second or third most dangerous sport in the world), big dogs (and little ones, too). Rottweilers aren't all that aggressive when handled with respect. i think a lot of the things i have done, a lot of men would run away from. examples: working at a hunt kennel and cleaning up the sh!t of about 50+ English foxhounds, butchering a horse carcass and feeding it to hounds (yes, i LOVE horses, but it's the way it has to be) skinning deer, hanging deer up to be skinned, moving all sorts of animal carcasses to be butchered, dealt with a crazed horse galloping down a road, and sooo many other things...and, please, football is SO boring compared to rugby. now THERE'S a sport!
And how are you today?

I used to ride, but finding the time and energy these days can be challenging. I've never been on a hunt but i would love to. Don;t really have much of a chance for things like that up round my neck of the woods but i'm moving down south foruni so i might get a chance to do some of those things soon.

cool. yeah, i used to ride, and almost bought a horse a couple of times, but after i realised that being an equine vet had a lot to do with maths i decided to focus on music, and that left no time for riding. i also couldn't find a place where i lived in the US that taught the same style as in England, where i learned. "English" seat over here is sooo not English! haha. so, my plan is to buy a horse and ride the way i was taught. this will probably not happen until i'm 30something, but it will be worth the wait

one thing that i noticed about 7 years ago was that there were always a lot more girls taking riding lessons, but in the Olympics there seemed to be more men....but, i think that has changed a lot, and might not be a valid "point" anymore.
And how are you today?

I wanted to be an equine vet too for a while!!

I did some work experience in the summer holidays and had to castrate a horse and believe me, that put me RIGHT off the idea. :P

I think I could take a wild guess at the reason for all his aggression.

 i don't mind. i do enjoy a good hunting debate, especially becuase it is hard to debate about in the US since it's useless over here, being all drag hunting, and foxes aren't as much of a "pest" as they are in the UK. but, i have to get packed, and am afraid i would miss the fun. i need to leave this forum...ready...one, two...ok. leaving for a few minutes. but, please PM me if you want! i don't bite hard when debating...

Foxhunting? Never really had a problem with it, but never really thought about it either.

Let's think about it....hunting for food or survival? Fine.

Hunting for sport? Unacceptable.

You can fish for sport, but you can throw it back afterwards (or eat it :P).

You can squish bugs, but we've established before here that there's a difference between a dog's "intelligence and cognitive reasoning" and an insects usually "automatic and reactionary process" without emotions.

But having a bunch of men, chase after a fox. All with horses and guns and shooting said fox simple for sport? Simply to have your picture taken with it? Simply to win an award?

Inhumane.

Can someone please explain how it *is* ok?

Maybe if foxes are legitimately over-populated...but that's the only reason I can think of and I highly doubt foxhunters are out there to maintain an healthy ecological environment.

i...damn...i have to go visit my grandparents....i'll be back though. i LOVE debating about foxn=hunting, mainly because a lot of people say what you did, 89th, and much of it is very untrue. must go, though :(
