If Robertson ever gets properly smote by God for his religious shenanigans, I'll be the first to tell him it was because of bad Karma.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

You mean the same person who called for the assasination of Hugo Chavez said this too? I am beyond shocked!!

Now I have to make sure to avoid visiting this thread anymore so I don't have to watch the inevitable posts justifying his statement -- similar to the outrageous justifications several months ago for the celebrated remark made by that other paragon of "Christianity"(sic ... and I mean sick) following 9/11.

Beware of false prophets? We have a plague of them in this country.

Yes, and if one really was gay and another was a neo-nazi skinhead from Hayden Lake ID, there might have been enough material for several more seasons of the show!! :sombrero:

Another "P" chimes in - the Palestinians.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=48203

JERUSALEM – Palestinian groups in the Gaza Strip are watching the news regarding Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's deteriorating health carefully and will celebrate with Qassam rocket firings at Jewish towns if Sharon dies, terror leaders told WorldNetDaily.

Many of initial apostols were crucified or killed for their beliefs. I guess that's proof positive that Christianity is a false religion. God was punishing them.

Of course, the Jews must be evil or else why would God permit the holocaust?

And Ronald Reagan - I bet the Alzheimers was a punishment for his conservative principles...

This Pat Robertson - does he have a brain?

What could we possibly have done to warrant such a punishment? Are you trying to make me an atheist?

Well, at least Robertson isn't alone:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060105/ap_on_...israel_sharon_1

Iranian President Hopes Sharon Perishes

Iran's president said Thursday he hoped for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the latest anti-Israeli comment by a leader who has already provoked international criticism for suggesting that Israel be "wiped off the map."

"Hopefully, the news that the criminal of Sabra and Chatilla has joined his ancestors is final," President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the semiofficial Iranian Students News Agency.

Ahmadinejad was referring to Sharon, who as defense minister in 1982 directed Israel's ill-fated invasion of Lebanon. An Israeli commission found him indirectly responsible for a massacre of Palestinians in the Sabra and Chatilla refugee camps by Christian Phalangist soldiers.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Time for a smiting.

Makes one long for the days of Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Baker. All they did was fool around and steal. It would appear Pat Robertson is the new Marge Schott. Put a microphone in his face long enough and something REALLY stupid to say publicly comes out.

I knew a lot about Marge though.. Marge had one of the biggest hearts ever made, and gave her time, love and her money generously. One would hope a minister would have at least that big a heart, but perhaps not.

Given Robertson's position as a leading spokesman for the Evangelical right and as a leader of the faith based GOP coalition supporting George Bush and how he is held up by so many conservative believers as a representative for Christianity, is it any wonder why so many find Christians to be judgemental and intolerant individuals, preaching a gospel of hate and revenge inspired by an avenging and vengeful God?

Just as Islamic leaders have been challenged to condemn and reject an version of Islam based on such evil, it will be interesting to see how many evangelical leaders and how many GOP leaders will condemn what Robertson has said and cut him out of any future involvement in Evangelical Christianity or GOP politics.

I'll bet there will be the typical hand-wringing over his words because it is politically correct to do so by the right, but there won't be many, their words will ring hollow and he will retain his position of influence in right wing politics and right wing evangelical Christianity.
