I see we have switched to cards -- and i have to say, your comments have been quite entertaining!!

Have you noticed though, that there are a lot of crummy pre-written cards?

I think people prefer them though, (the pre-written ones) because they think you took more time to pick it out?

Hubby and I have noticed that there are a lot of cards that make it sound like we have been through all these hard times, but managed to perserver. That's when I go get one of those to the point cards that say just Happy Birthday, or Happy Anniversary. Hubby is not into those long wordy cards. Hubby is also now liking those big print cards (LOL) and he barely qualifies for AARP membership.

HOLY CARP!!!
Well, I know some people do put a LOT of time into picking the right message for their card (like Sue mentioned she does), and that certainly has merit. I just don't like when people rush in, find something cute, sign their name, and that's that.

I don't do the Hallmark thing- I'll either make my own card, if I know it's important to the person (like my parents), or I'll just write a little personal note along with the gift. I personally don't feel like I'm saying much to someone when I give them a card with someone else's warm message in it, but some people search long and hard for the right one and really feel a connection with what is written there and the person they are giving the card to, and now I'm rambling. . . . but really, it really depends on the person, I guess ^_^ All it really comes down to is how much meaning/thought you put into the gift/card.
