Rapper kills himself with pen gun

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ST. PARIS, Ohio -- Steven Zorn had put the pen gun to his head and clicked before, apparently thinking it was jammed and would not work.

But on the third try, the tiny silver pistol went off as the 22-year-old budding rap artist was drinking to celebrate an impending record deal. He died at a hospital.

The Nov. 18 shooting at Zorn's home in this rural village of 2,000, about 50 miles northeast of Dayton, is believed to have been accidental, according to family, friends and law enforcement officials.

"Steven had a career and his dreams all ahead of him," said Zorn's mother, Lisa McCoy-Horn. She said she wants lawmakers to outlaw pen guns, which are small-caliber, single-shot weapons that resemble pens.

Zorn had taught himself to play the keyboard and record tracts using inexpensive software on his home computer. He tracked down rap artist Miracle in Georgia and urged the crunk artist to listen to a CD of his original recordings.

"The lyrical content was awesome," Miracle said. "He had a lot of skill. I took a liking to him, took him under my wing."

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

That's odd.. I know the town of St. Paris well, what there is of it. Used to be on a truck route I ran for a while. The gas station/restaurant had the best burger you ever ate.

Sad for Steven Zorn.. I hope his mom is successful in getting pen guns banned.

ZOOOOOM!
Someone I knew from my childhood shot himself while hunting with two of his friends; he died instantly. It's always aggravating to hear stories like these, that's for sure.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
The guy was drinking, put a gun against his head, thought it might be jammed, and killed himself.

I feel really sorry for the mom, but a pen gun did not kill her son. And you can't outlaw stupidity.

We lefties keep trying.

But the NSA (National Stoopidity Association) has some highly placed people in Washington.

I suppport the right to own and bear arms. But a gun ought to look like a gun, not a normal harmless piece of school or office gear.

Uh, it took him three tries? Assuming he wasn't able to discuss this after the fact, that means he must have had a couple of buddies helping him with the counting....and they all thought this was a good idea?
I think more than one Darwin award is in order here.

yeah, guns, everyone should have one. sheesh. what a needless tragedy.

I think pen guns fall under the same category as switch blades. I suppose that if they can pass through an airport screening they should be banned.

But the mother's grief is misplaced. If the kid didn't have a pen gun he would have found another stupid way to kill himself.

Never seen a college that offered a degree in rap or hip-hop, this is true.

My physical therapist was telling me about this this aft, and my response was the title to this thread, almost verbatim.
