Since the Steelers/Bengals game is a topic, let me raise one about the BCS. Could someone please explain to me why certain conference champions have an automatic berth in a BCS Bowl? My cyncism about sports is that these decisions are always based on making money (in fact, the entire BCS is simply to make sure the big schools stay big and make lots of money). But this policy can't be based on making money. Certainly all of BCS eligible schools not in these conferences lose a chance at making big bucks since there are always fewer slots than there should be because of this policy. Why would the Presidents of the other universities and colleges agree to this? And it can't be that the networks think they'd lose money without this arrangement. Does anyone really think that hFlorida State or Georgia with worse records than Oregon will gather a larger TV audience? The best match-ups of the strongest teams bring the best ratings I really do not understand what has brought this policy about and why it continues. It makes no sense to me. I mean...WTF? (BTW, I am a USC alumnus, so am very happy with the way my school has been treated -- at least this year! )
