I am so adjective that I verb nouns!

Bad idea, Kenny. What happens when you need to accelerate rapidly to avoid an accident? Last thing you want is some governor on the car making it difficult. The simplest way would be to have an onboard computer that was tied into the State DMV with satellite and with GPS. If you go say 15% over the speed limit, you get sent a ticket automatically. Big brother is watching you. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
What IT said. I have no interest in someone else driving my car, until they start driving everyone else on the road's car(AND TRUCK) too. I can't tell you how many times I've had to goose it to avoid an alterction with a truck. |

The simplest way would be for everyone to realize that the car isn't an extension of their manhood/womanhood or a stand-in for how powerful they are. It's a car, for heaven's sake. Transportation. Takes you from point A to point B. Whenever I see someone speeding through traffic, I feel like they are flipping everyone off as they go by. And they are. |

HOLY CARP!!!

I've never had to goose it to avoid anything. I keep myself away from the majority who travel in tight clumps of traffic, with the slowest in the front and the fastest in the back, and everyone mad. Drive at a safer speed and leave a lot of space in front of you. You will be safer. The number of accidents caused by speeding have to FAR out number those caused by not being able to accelerate to avoid one. |

For someone who is worried about Big Brother peaking through your bedroom window you sure seem nonchalant about an idea that could potentially result in monitoring every move you make. |

If you drive at 120 mph there's a much higher chance you'll be breaking the old 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' law in pretty short order. It should be noted that the device only kicks in when people are already driving significantly above the speed limit. For any libertarians who disagree with speed limits, if you drive near where my children are playing then it should be OK for me to shoot at you in self defence. |

So you think God tells you that you can drive over the speed limit? Why hide behind religion? Why not just tell the truth? You obey or break whatever laws you want to. Just like everyone. Just like me. |

I do not object to enforcement of speed limits. I object to connecting my car in any way to a system that could potentially monitor my movements. Most of us would not tolerarate a police car following us around everywhere we go and I feel the same about being followed from outer space. |

Define speed limit. It can be 45 mph, or even less. Much less on a city street, or residential neighborhood. Out West, I'd think you'd find very little support for tootling along at 60 or 65mph, let alone 55. And since y'all apparently don't know, many cars already are programmed to not allow excessive speed (>90 or 95 mph). The simple fact is that you cannot install a device that works in all circumstances, and has the posibility of even being a liability in an emergency situation. It is encumbent upon the driver to take responsibility for his own actions. |

Rather simplistic, donchya think? If the state passed a law that said in oder to achieve citizenship, you must muder at least one person, would you obey that law? I wouldn't, but apparently you would.... |

Spoilsport. The thought of taking out speeding motorists with RPG's is rather appealing. I guess the grenade could also be considered to be an outside entity taking an active role in driving your car, for a short time at least. Jolly, the speed limit is whatever's posted. When you take up the responsibility of driving on public roads, you implicitly agree to abide by the laws applicable to those roads. Driving isn't a God-given right, it's a privilege. If you break the rules, you lose the privilege. And yes, before anyone asks, of course I do break the speed limit from time to time. Edit - I don't want someone from outerspace watching me, either. I'm paranoid enough already. |

Jolly read again. Like I said, "Just like me." I don't obey the speed laws because I'm trying to be moral or secure a place in heaven. I'm saving gas. Just a nerddy hobby. Oh, and I REALLY like to be safe too. I creep through stop signs, after looking, because it saves gas. I break the laws that I don't respect too, just like you. I think of myself of the center of the universe, just like you do. I just tell the truth about it. |

I read exactly what you wrote. So how do you pick which laws you will obey? Those that seem "ok" today? Societal consensus? Peer pressure? Upon which rock do you stand? |
