Breeder. Congrats -- it looks so cool -- rubberized magnesium! But what are you going to do with 10MP -- make wallpaper? |

I ain't buying it for the 10.2 million pixels. Size ain't everything. A camera, like a person, is a package. It is the first SLR from Nikon under $5000 that lets me use, and meter through, all of my c.1980s Nikkor lenses which add up to much more than $1700. I'd rather not throw them away. Plus the CCD is only 66% as large as the 35mm format. So it occupies only the center of the projected circle of light. Since all lenses are more sharp (color and recilininear-wise) towards the center all my pics will be even more razor-sharp than they were using my Nikon F3 (film) body. But thanks, I guess I *could* make a poster. I hear the color from this CCD is even more accurate than Kodachrome25! There is deafening buzz about this camera. This is the prosumer camera body everyone has been waiting for. But even this is a toy compared to the cameras my company has laying around. They have digital 4 x 5 backs that they slip into Polaroid MP4s and Sinar 4x5 view cameras, Schneider lenses. That's a 4 INCH x 5 INCH CCDs. ![]() $$$ |

I have four boxes (big boxes) full of photographs I took in China that I wish had been taken with this camera. |

That 4 INCH x 5 INCH CCD... how many pixels does it have? How much does it cost? How much power does it consume? Is it even "portable," like, fit into your backpack or something? Oh... congratulations on the new camera. Post pictures of the camera after you've taken delivery. |

I've no clue as to the name. Maybe I'll ask one of the photographers when I see them next week. The files are amazingly clear. You can really really blow them up to seen tiny detail before they pixelate. They are certainly not portable. They are substantial studio cameras with big cables that hook up to the back of a PC. The 4x5 backs are slipped into view cameras with movements, or table top MP4 cameras. |

Kenny, being a fan of b&w vs colour myself, how do these cameras perform with b&w? I have some b&w online if you recall and I wonder how even the 10M CCDs can perform with respect to what we used to call "grain" size. |

Ax, they got several of these 4 x 5 backs. It's nice cause they didn't need to buy new cameras, just backs that slip right in. Not sure which model they are, probably the fanciest! File size up to 850 MB Price up to $18,000 ![]() http://www.betterlight.com/products4X5.asp http://www.betterlight.com/price.asp |
