A very young Marc-Andre Hamelin play the Busoni transcription of the Bach P & F BWV 532 (the piece that Paul Jacobs played as an encore in last night's concert

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Wow. Hamelin seems to have figured out the whole octaves thing.

And Czifra too. I love the camera angle in his video.

Here's the original organ version:

Watch the footwork. And imagine hearing this on the organ in Orchestra Hall. It was something I'll remember for a long time.

I was going to comment that Ax looks pretty young on that CD cover.

It was released in 1987.

My favorite Lady Gaga song is Judas, as song that's obscure and was only on the radio in America for a short time back in 2011.

And yes, that's the song I'm listening to right now.

Tzimon Barto!

Saw him at Ravinia about 10 years ago. He played the Prokofiev #3. Nice performance, but he was a little too "Lang Lang" if you know what I mean.

He's a weirdo for sure - I saw him play the Rachmaninov 3 with Christophe Eschenbach conducting at Ravinia. Barto looked like a body builder, as if he could pick up the piano and carry it under his arm. Eschenbach looked like a munchkin standing next to him. I think his Rach 3 is one of the best out there - top 5 for me.

I'm hot and cold on him. He can be a bit too luxurious with tempos at times. I hated a performance of the Brahms 1 he did up in Milwaukee a long while back. He used to have a big following in Europe - popular with younger folks. I'm not sure if that is still the case. He was a student of Adele Marcus - as were a few decent pianists. I worked with Marcus on a couple of her Master Classes when she came to Chicago. She was the one who suggested he change his name to Tzimon Barto, somewhat in jest. He took it to heart.

That's sort of my point. I can't comment on his pianism with the authority that you have, but when I saw him at Ravinia, he was wearing a Seinfeld-esque "poofy" shirt.

Remember, if you can't blind 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

And there was a lot of BS at Ravinia that night.
