It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't. - P.G. Wodehouse | |

You mean you don't know who Karl is? He is the most powerful and highest ranking flaming queen in the United States. Or at least we think he is the most powerful and highest ranking flaming queen. But then...... Is President Bush a Girly Man? |

I'm game. You could start off by telling us who, or what the LBW is. Lesser Bats & Wickets? Long British Winters? How come some cricket games (matches) go on for days? Do women play cricket, or is it a male-only sport? confused canadian here. p.s. I also don't who KR is. |

This could take a looooong time to explain. ![]() Specially to someone who doesn't know the basics of cricket. (i love cricket if you hadn't guessed :P. When the Ashes were on i spent every test day at my friend John's house and we watched it together with tea and scones - ahhh, you gotta love the British ^_^) |

Leg before wicket. Basically, your leg stopped the ball hitting the wicket, which is not the done thing. The details are so complex as to make quantum physics appear as childsplay. Nobody outside of Yorkshire knows why, and nobody in Yorkshire is telling. Cricket matches go on for days because that's how long it takes. Women do not play cricket, as they do not understand the LBW rules. They are however allowed to make little cucumber sandwiches and orange juice, except in Yorkshire of course. I'm told that some Canadians do play cricket, just not very well.

I am the grey one

I once saw a cricket match on TV (I was in a Chinese hotel at the time. I could search the channels here for days in vain). I could have watched it for days and still had not one clue what was going on. The little cucumber sandwiches sound good. |

I'm thinking this would be rather painful, and that you would not choose to do this after the first time, thereby making the need for a ruling law unnecessary? Actually, I believe there are some cricket clubs here in Vancouver; this is after all, British Columbia. I should try and watch sometime, I would like to understand the game.

The flat bat, the no foul balls. . . and what's up with those STICKS??? And how many bases are there anyway? Who's the shortstop? Carp, is the whole team on the field at any one time? I tried time and time again to figure out Cricket just by watching the games, and I tell you it perplexes the sh!t out of me. |

Well, you wouldn't exactly choose to do it the first time. LBW's are mistakes, errors, grand faux paus in the world of smoothed willow. x |

I only gave the cut-down version of course, as I didn't one to add too much confusion. A fuller discourse is available at: Rules of cricket If you understand that lot, you're a better man than I, Gunga Din.
