I Owe It All To John D'Oh

If that happens, for the same reason that the country was fed up with Democrats throughout the 80s, but kept re-electing Democratic Congresses. The American people sometimes have a disconnect between their feelings about Congress as a whole and their feelings about their own representatives. Every now and then, though, there is a paradigm shift. It happened in 1994, here's hoping it happens again in 2006. |

One reason it happened in 1994 was that Newt Gingrich managed to nationalize Congressional elections with the Contract With America. Democrats are said to be working on a similar strategy but they have yet to unveil anything that is less attack than idea driven. |

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it". Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody. Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore. From The Lion in Winter. | |

I would give it no more than a 70/30 chance....and that is if Bush can't get his act together. The Katrina response was mishandled, and the gas prices are more important to the American public, IMO, than the Bush lied/people died BS. Concerning the latter, none of the major Dems who supported the war going in, have come out in opposition. If Iraq shows some tangible progress, if energy prices stabilize a bit, and if the economy keeps growing at a 4%/qtr clip, I think that the Republican majority is unassailable... |

Too true. And gas prices have been coming down, way down. The price of a gallon of gas is down 30% from 6-8 weeks ago. It's not back to where it was last year, but it's way down from the highs. |

Kenny, all men are created equal. They stay that way about 10 seconds. There is no equality short of Utopia, and Utopia ain't happening. So that leaves us with politics. In order to effect societal change, you have to win at politics. In our form of government, that means you gotta have more fer ya, than agin ya. Right now, you ain't got the votes. Even in "gay-friendly" states, the gay marriage agenda has been defeated. Resoundingly. Within the black community, the efforts of the gay community to equate gay rights with the civil rights movement has been met with derision. In politics, you take what you can get, and live to fight another day. |

At least until the crows come home to roost when interest rates start soaring owing to an over heated economy combined with a federal fiscal policy that relies entirely on deficit spending. |

So Rove deserves the gay label? The reason that such stuff is in such abundance on the net may have more to do with the maturity of the writers....and the intended audience.... The conservatives didn't have to paint Lurch as gay in order to defeat him...all we had to do was let him talk. I find it quite hilarious that your convictions about Kerry have cooled so much, in such a short time....makes me wonder what any of you saw in the man in the first place... Oh well, we tried to tell you..... |

You can bet your boots they would have had all the markings been evident as they are with Rovey boy. And Kerry wasn't my first pick - not by a long shot. |

"shave his balls with a rusty razor", among other things. You can use Quirt's version of Occam's razor --- it's pretty rusty. |
