MP, I'll give you the driving lessons, and then we can cruise around looking for hotties together

Come on! Why be so modest and stop at only one boy friend?
Ask for a few more, give yourself more options, then keep only those you like. :D

Me, for Christmas, I want only peace on Earth and good will for all. :)
I'm betting that Santa will fail to deliver those yet again. :(
But I am not that hard to please... I can settle for something more modest... like a few billion US dollars. :)

A filing cabinet. I have so much random paper it isn't even funny. I swear I go through about a tree a week. From the looks of things, one would guess that I take all of the paper and fling it wildly about. Then the leaves gather together and engulf all of the flat surfaces within their reach......... it's very suspicious. I need to alphabetize them and split them up. If they're divided I will beat down the strength of their forces I think, and I can make all of the paper serve MY purposes.

I also want some books. I'm a big believer in rectangular Christmas presents.

btw, hi all. :)

Hey, sweetheart!

I would like a sheet music cabinet. And, yes, I'm with Quidam on this one. I always enjoy books.

A new black video iPod (don't care about the video, actually. Just like that it's black.) And I'll be getting one. My mum's gift to me is going to be paying for part of it, and my gift to myself will be paying for the rest. :D

Which one are you getting, Dol? The 30 GB or 60 GB?

I just got the 30 GB one a few weeks ago, it's very nice. Keep it in its little carrying case, though, the screen scuffs fairly easily.

With a new iPod, I've had the fun of going back through all my old CDs and copying the one song I like on some old albums onto the iPod, so I can start listening to them again.

Just the 30GB. I was originally going to get a 20 until the new ones came out - I'm going to take the Bill Gates line on this and say "No one could ever possibly fill 30GB" ;)

You'd be surprised! :P

I have a puny 2 GB iPod Nano given to me as a gift -- it's BLACK alright, with my name engraved at the back too, but I don't use it much. I'm just not a gadget guy.

But if I were to buy one myself though, I think I'd spring for the 60 GB version given the current price differential. I have seen your son's pictures, but if you start to capture video of your son (or video of just about anything), those Gigabytes will fill up fast! (Though I'll probably just use it more as a cool portable harddisk than as a media player.)

There are a lot cheaper portable hard disks out there, Ax!

But, ya Dol, I agree with Ax. If you can, spring for the 60 GB.

I agree to a very large extent... but to get one that can be powered by its internal battery (or just draw power from the host computer) and one that will fit nicely into a shirt pocket is still not cheap.

A holiday.

Good choice.

Actually, it seems that I am getting a holiday for Christmas this year. Chanukah starts Christmas Eve. (which is very late this year. I think last year or the year before it began at the end of November.)

I'd like to have my house painted (exterior) and also a nice long vacation alone with my husband. We have not had a vacation together since 2000. *sigh*

Honestly, I can't see myself using it for picture or video storage. Not at all. I'll probably have a few current pics of Liam on it, just so when people say "Do you have a pic of your son?" I don't look like the horrible mother I appear to be now when I pull out a creased wallet sized Sears portrait that is 2 years old. But other than that, I'm all about the music and Audiobooks.

To tell you the truth, I CANNOT spend the money. I can barely justify the expense of doing this Christmas purchase for myself. I just can't afford to spend the extra $120 (Canadian). I'd love to, but I can't. Besides, when I was looking at the Gen 4, I was going to buy the 20GB, so as far as I'm concerned, I'm getting 10GB for free. ;)

And KC - yes, I'm a huge dork. I've been coveting one for about 2 years. But, alas, I'm a huge dork who, up til two months ago, was only employed casually, previous to that a full time student, previous to that on maternity leave. :P

He's better. Still working out some health issues though. :( Everything takes time. Thanks for asking Peggy. :)

A driving teacher, other than myself,  for my son...

I did that once - for a neighbor's kid. I think I was about 17 - laws were different then.

He was a good enough driver but neither one of his parents could ride with him without going in to hysterics. We would take his folks' station wagon in the morning and wouldn't come back until it got dark. We did a LOT of driving - desert, mountains, beach.. big fun!

I drove the car a few times too, and I could see why he was having trouble at first. It was a big LTD Squire wagon, and it handled like a shopping cart full of canned soup. After he got his license he stuck to Volkswagens.

I filled up my 20GB. Got rid of 5-6GB a few weeks ago. Now I'm running low on room again. Wish I had the cash for a new 60GB version.
