OK, so I'm 400 years too late, but it illustrates that things haven't changed that much.

I'll tell you what, James I dealt with them in a way that would make even Dick Cheney wince -

Would it have made any difference if he'd succeeded?

Guy Fawkes succeeds?

Who knows? Could one man have changed history? Does anybody care except me? :P

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody.

Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore.

I guess it's possible.

Guy Fawkes framed?

It's a good one for the conspiracy theorests, at least.

From my reading years ago on the topic, Guy was not the brightest bulb (a bit of an anachronism, I know), and not capable of masterminding a complex assassination plot.

Now that the Pope has exonerated Gallileo, when will the Crown exonerate poor Guido?

"Free Guy Fawkes" -- a catchy new bumper sticker.

:D

A fairly common piece of graffiti when I was growing up was 'Guy Fawkes was right'

They can't exonerate him, the Brits would have to give up the delightfully pagan Nov. 5th celebrations. 'A penny for the straw-man' just doesn't have the same ring to it.
