The Bye Bye Syndrome

HOLY CARP!!!
The Bye Bye Syndrome is when toddlers run up behind an SUV to say Bye Bye as mom or dad is backing out of the driveway.

2400 small children are driven over annually by SUVs as they back up.
Mom just can't see them.
In fact, mom can't see *anything* under two feet tall as far as 40 feet behind her SUV.

So much for the SUV protecting their most precious asset.

I've got a Mercury Sable that you can't see a darn thing behind it.

But since it is an SUV, it doesn't bother me nearly as much to run over my children.

OTOH, since my kids are pretty much grown, I'd be outta luck trying to run over them in a hybrid. They'd dent the durn thing....

Hey Kenny, hybrids are getting free parking in Manchester to encourage the more "green" amongst us :)

Hey Kenny, is it true that you can get a $2000 credit for buying a hybrid? That would sure go a long ways towards covering the higher cost.

I just need a hybrid four-door Toyota Tacoma. Actually, my commute would be perfect for it - 15 miles one way, mostly surface streets w/a lot of stops.

It is a $2000 tax deduction, not credit, if you buy it in 2005.

If you buy it in 2006 it is more complicated (but better I think).

I know a few people who ordered the 2006 Civic Hybrid but won't take posession till Jan 06 cause the tax thing is better.

I think the City of Los Angeles gives free parking to hybrids too.
I hope guys like 89 aren't going around keying hybrids.

Yeah, I'd wait for the credit. My neighbor just got the new Civic w/the gas-only engine. Nice car.

Kenny I am shocked that you would make such sexist statements. It suggests that "Moms" are negligent SUV drivers by virtue of their gender. Would it not be better to rephrase gender neutrally as in "negligent drivers of SUV's"?

Well, that's a little harsh as well.

How about saying "those persons operating large personal transportation devices, who, due to outside influences, are not currently exhibiting safe driving practices"?

J/k, although I think Kenny was just using mom's as an example; I doubt he was trying to be sexist.

My car has a little camera that switches on when you put the car in reverse, for exactly that reason. It just shows what's behind your car, low, and from the bumper out to about maybe 5 feet. It saved me from running over a rake already.

Indeed I've noticed of late, the baser elements of this beer swilling establishment are beginning to take their toll on you. Soon you'll be trading in your hybrid for a chopped Harley.

If you work at GOOGLE and buy a hybrid, you get a check for $5k.

I am pretty sure my next car in a year or two will be a Civic. Can't decide whether to go hybrid or not. Mostly highway driving.

[unless i go for the Miata]

That does it! When is their next public offering? I missed out last time because everyone shouted me down, and even though it's not as good an opportunity ow, I LIKE them (use Google dozens of times a day too).

I think the City of Los Angeles gives free parking to hybrids too.

The City of Los Angeles has a special lane on the main roads around the city for cars with two or more people. It's empty.
How now, brown cow.
