It's wrong and you are insulting car bombers everywhere. They just can't seem to make an impact on the numbers. |

If these gas pigs are so wrong and insulting to those who have died in Iraq then why do Americans buying them? Apathy? Denial? Ignorance? Too much TV? Cheney kept that Energy Policy Meeting secret by declaring it a matter of National Security. I'll bet Cheney and the the oil company execs sat at a table with a map of Iraq and a pair of scissors. |

I would encourage you to apologize Kenny, but that's up to you. As they said, it's wrong, it's insulting to the troops who have died liberating a horrible regime, and you need to get real. For someone who doesn't watch tv, you sure seem to be buying the liberal rhetoric quite easily... |

Look Kenny, I appreciate your zealous crusade to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through conservation of fossil fuels. All the same however to suggest that the primary reason to invade and occupy Iraq was to gain control of oilfields and production is utter nonsense. Iraq like virtually every other country in the world requires foreign capital in order to feed itself and remain economically viable. Simply put, it must export goods in order to earn the cash to import goods. Crude Oil export is pretty much Iraq's exclusive source of income regardless of who is in power in Baghdad. Like Saudi Arabia, the Iraqis recognize that the world demand for sand is dismal. On the other hand foreign companies and foreign countries are willing to part with their hard earned dollars and Euros to purchase Iraqi oil. As well those same foreign interests are willing to invest in exploration, drilling and production of Iraqi held fossil fuels. That investment too ends up in the the Iraqi economy so that Iraqis citizens can purchase imported consumer goods. I therefore find it irritating that some people remain fixated on the totally specious claim that the present Iraqi War is being fought to gain control of Iraqi hydrocarbon resources. It completely disregards the fact that access to those hydrocarbon resources have been for there for commercial sale since before WWII. In other words, there was no need to use troops to occupy Iraq if the sole political objective was to control oil and gas production. An invasion of cold hard cash would have accomplished the same result, bloodlessly and without opposition. |

THe buyers of SUVs are the ones who killed our troups. Kenny, one has to be naive to the extreme to continue beating that drum about "it's all about the oil". I'm getting ready to trade cars. I have driven Lincoln Town Cars for the last 30 years. The one I have now gets 27 mpg with loads of comfort and security. I think I'll buy a Hummer this time. I'm going to help liberate America by doing my part to help force the Left to get out of the way and let us drill for oil on our own lands, and build new refineries. |

kenny thats hyperbole and way over the top. and absolutly untrue. the stated reason we are in iraq was WMD, which was proven wrong. the unstated reason we are in Iraq was to topple a despotic murderous regime. that in itself would justify the war. unfortunatley the Bush crew really blew it when it came down to selling this war to the world. had they been open and honest abou the real goals, and used sufficient force to do it massively in such a way that no insurgency would have arose, then things would be different. but Bush and Rummy f*ucked it up. But no one responsibly believes the war effort was guided by oil needs. oil needs guided and still guides the horrible flirt with saudi arabia, but thats a different issue. Iraq was a chance for america to do some good in the world. if america pounced on adolph a half a century ago with the same intensity, history would have been rewritten for the better. to write "the buyers of SUV's killed our troops" is irresponsible demogoguery at best, and incredibly blind and hurtful, to say the least. while relying less on arab oil will ultimatlly do america loads of good, by first decreasing pollution, and forcing the arab regimes to fend for themselves and their own welfare, however, i can tell u categorically that a fleet of hybrid cars would not makes the saddams of the world any less tyranical. |
