Yes, well if more people watch it, it must be better. *cough* Britney Spears *cough* The average man in the street doesn't like to think too hard, it's much nicer watching the bunnies. Fox is very shallow, in my opinion, and has way too much shouting and grandstanding on it.

Here, 89th, I'll save you the trouble:

"Since the New York Times is twice as far from the center as Fox News’ Special Report, to gain a balanced perspective, one would need to spend twice as much time watching Special Report as he or she spends reading the New York Times."

Groseclose, Tim. "A Measure of Media Bias". Department of Political Science, UCLA. September 2003.

Says here it's only twice as much, not ten times. I'll concede that this article concludes that Fox is half as conservative as the NYT is liberal, but definitely not anywhere close to your "2%, 20%" figures.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Oh, that first part makes sense now.

Secondly, ok...as long as we both know that both sides are slanted.

Fox news = 2%. Liberal news = 20%.

10 times.

That's why I choose to watch fox...AND why it absolutely dominates cable news.

Which is also why 87% of statistics are made up on the spot.

The planet can't support 6.4 billion people living like American consumers.

So either we have to keep it unfair or accept a redistribution of the stuff.

When was the last time you biked to work, or made your own clothes?

I make my own clothes from felt made from the lint collected in my dryer screen.

That is SOOO much more environmentally conscious than driving a hybrid.

The concepts of left, right, center are almost completely arbitrary, and relative to the point of the view of ourself, and what is considered mainstream within our immediate vicinity. Moderate, or centrist, can and do mean very different things in, say the USA, Britain or France. FWIW, the US is generally perceived to be more towards the right by the majority of Europe, including Britain. Not just at the moment, but most of the time. Bill Clinton could easily have run as a left-leaning conservative in the UK.

My opinion that Fox is the TV equivalent of a right wing rag is based on the fact that I'm mostly a liberal, whereas 89th's assertion that it is fair and balanced, just demonstrates that it is closer to his viewpoint.

Joe Stalin would have considered us all to be much the same, and would probably have had us executed as dangerous lefty (or righty?) subversives.

Haha that's funny, because I just read quite a bit of his thesis!

Ok, I'll give you that it doesnt' say 2% 20% there. But you can trust I'm not making that up. I have seen that, but I just can't find it right now.

Either way, if it's a toss up...I'll watch FoxNews...it has less bias. Like I said though, I like Lou Dobbs on CNN.

When I was in Rome, I met this Irish girl...and of course, we eventually talked politics. She couldn't BELIEVE I voted for Bush. She thought he was an idiot, etc. I asked why she thought that and she literally said, "Well, I've seen Michael Moore's movie and..."

...I still slept with her though. It was jolly good. ;)

:D :D :D

89th you are absolutely priceless. You've made it clear that you thought this girl was stupid for quoting Michael Moore as her source for believing Bush is an idiot and followed up by saying that she slept with you. :D
How now, brown cow.

It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

Poor 89th, everyone is laughing at him. It's not right you know, suicide amongst lonely teenagers in America is sky high.
His demise would be on our collective conscience for minutes if he realises how desperate he really is.
For my part, i am laughing by him, not at him........well not directly..............i'm too far away for it to really hurt.
