For me to have it THIS good others have to suffer.

What kind of logic is that?

There are only so many DVDs floating around, so to speak.

Kenny, I understand your concern, but you have it backwards. Lowering your standard of living won't increase their's. If you really want to help those less fortunate than we are to elevate themselves to a higher standard of living, work toward giving them the things that made it possible for you to attain your's. Support those who are fighting to remove oppression by dictators and to replace it with freedom and democracy.

You sir, have proven *our* point.

I mean, c’mon.  He’s not my idol either, but don’t knock the guy just because it’s the thing to say.  Why don’tcha start to branch out with your news sources, and stop taking the BBC to be the political Bible?

When I was in Rome, I met this Irish girl...and of course, we eventually talked politics. She couldn't BELIEVE I voted for Bush. She thought he was an idiot, etc. I asked why she thought that and she literally said, "Well, I've seen Michael Moore's movie and..."

...I still slept with her though. It was jolly good. ;)

You felt you had to punish her in the most horrible fashion possible then?

I really don't know why anyone would believe what they see in Michael Moores movies. He should have his *Oscar* removed from the ass of his Bush puppet after we found out that he'd obviously used a Bush impersonator to make him look like a meglomaniac, dimwitted gimp.

The Wall Street Journal is great, I'll give you that, but the NYT is the flagship of the liberal media.

Oh no! Oh no! Not the LIBERALS! They have NOTHING real to contribute, as republicans are the ONLY political party to recieve True Enlightenment!

Bah. I know they're slanted; I only brought it up to make my list more diverse. And as for your "fair and balanced" fox news, why don't you check out this article from Wikipedia.

scroll down to "Controversies and allegations of bias".
I cite irreconcilable differences.

The planet can't support 6.4 billion people living like American consumers.

So either we have to keep it unfair or accept a redistribution of the stuff.

Aqua, first you said the NYT is a great place to start for news. Which it isn't.

And neither is McPaper, Jon. ;)

Secondly, I said that fox is slanted, but you should research how the liberal outlets of CNN, MSNBC, etc...are literally 10 times more slanted than foxnews is.

liberality. That's not a word though...

i think it is

Touche, salesman!

lib·er·al·i·ty (lĭb'ə-răl'ĭ-tē) pronunciation
n., pl. -ties.

1. The quality or state of being liberal or generous.
2. An instance of being liberal.

So the American economy is more important than the planet's health?

Or not dependent on each other.

No, but it can support 350 million of them as long as the rest don't get too wise.

Shhhhhh :shifty:

Aqua, first you said the NYT is a great place to start for news. Which it isn't.

You mis-read my post, which is understandable, since I failed to make this clear. I said:

"Well, you don't have to be nearly that extreme. The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and the Washington Post are all good for starters."

Perhaps I did not specify enough: one should read all four (or any combination of popular american news sources) to get a more spanned take on political events. I did not say the New York Times, in and of itself, was a great place to start for news. However, it can prove to be a good source, if cross-checked with other sources (like the Wall Street Journal or Fox).

In addition,

I don't need to, I know they're slanted. I was just making sure you knew fox was just as guilty. Where do you get this "10 times" business?
I cite irreconcilable differences.

NEW YORK TIMES?!

NEW YORK TIMES

The Wall Street Journal is great, I'll give you that, but the NYT is the flagship of the liberal media.

Fox slants right, sure...but not nearly as bad as CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, and NBC lean to the left.

Do you just want to listen to opinions you agree with?

The problem I have with most of the US media on TV isn't their politics, its the shallowness of so much their analysis, as well as the insularity regarding international affairs.

FWIW I've always found the (largely American) attitude that the BBC is a bunch of commies trying to undermine right-thinking people everywhere absolutely hysterically funny.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Oh, that first part makes sense now.

Secondly, ok...as long as we both know that both sides are slanted.

Fox news = 2%. Liberal news = 20%.

10 times.

That's why I choose to watch fox...AND why it absolutely dominates cable news.

John, I'll look at all sources for news. I think Fox is more accurate, so I'll watch it if it's a toss up between fox and MSNBC.

I might not always debate on both sides, but when looking and weighing the facts, I'll be very fair and honest.

Probably would have voted for the democratic candidate for governor here in Virginia, had I not moved to Maryland.
