It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't. - P.G. Wodehouse | |

An old man turned ninety-eight He won the lottery and died the next day It’s a black fly in your chardonnay It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late Isn’t it ironic... don’t you think? Chorus: It’s like rain on your wedding day It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take Who would’ve thought... it figures Mr. play it safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down he thought Well isn’t this nice... And isn’t it ironic... don’t you think? Repeat chorus Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything’s okay and everything’s going right And life has a funny way of helping you out when You think everything’s gone wrong and everything blows up In your face A traffic jam when you’re already late A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife It’s meeting the man of my dreams And then meeting his beautiful wife And isn’t it ironic... don’t you think? A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think... Repeat chorus Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out Helping you out x |

I bruise you You bruise me We both bruise too easily Too easily to let it show I love you and that's all I know All my plans Have fallen through All my plans depend on you Depend on you to help them grow I love you and that's all I know When the singer's gone Let the song go on... But the ending always comes at last Endings always come too fast They come too fast But they pass to slow I love you and that's all I know When the singer's gone Let the song go on It's a fine line between the darkness and the dawn They say in the darkest night, there's a light beyond But the ending always comes at last Endings always come too fast They come too fast But they pass to slow I love you and that's all I know That's all I know That's all I know |

Song for the Dumped by Ben Folds Five "So you wanted to take a break Slow it down some and have some space Well f** you too! Give me my money back Give me my money back, you bitch I want my money back ... and don't forget my black T-shirt Wish I hadn't bought you dinner Right before you dumped me on your front porch Give me my money back Give me my money back, you bitch I want my money back ... and don't forget my black T-shirt" |

GOOD one, Ivory! Well, you wonder why I always dress in black, Why you never see bright colors on my back, And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone. Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on. I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he's a victim of the times. I wear the black for those who never read, Or listened to the words that Jesus said, About the road to happiness through love and charity, Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me. Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose, In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes, But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back, Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black. I wear it for the sick and lonely old, For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold, I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been, Each week we lose a hundred fine young men. And, I wear it for the thousands who have died, Believen' that the Lord was on their side, I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died, Believen' that we all were on their side. Well, there's things that never will be right I know, And things need changin' everywhere you go, But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right, You'll never see me wear a suit of white. Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black |
