There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

ZOOOOOM!
Y'know, it's important not to downplay the plight of Electron Affinity. Ionization Energy gets all the press, man; it's totally unfair. I mean, how about talking about the energy change when an electron is added to a neutral atom to form a negative ion???

Poor electron affinity.

Wow, MP... are you sure you heard him correctly? I can't believe a teacher with his years of experience would say something like that.

I would talk with some of your other classmates to confirm what you heard, and then I'd report him to your principal. I wouldn't want my daughter in his classroom, no matter how good a teacher he was. (And if my daughter was Alice, my first impulse would be to kick the carp out of him.)
It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

Any kind of sexual innuendo spoken by a teacher in front of a class of high school students is completely inappropriate. Talk to your parents.

Thing is - he is THE best Chem teacher at my school. If i had anyone else i KNOW i would be likely to fail - believe me - ive had the other teachers before. And it's not only me - if he got sacked it would affect the WHOLE class. I know it's no excuse but it puts me in a really awkward position.

Thing is - he is THE best Chem teacher at my school.

Eric Franklin Rosser, 49, a former concert pianist, was arrested in the Thai capital by FBI officers and the Thai police acting on a tip-off and was in the custody of Thai police, the official said on condition of anonymity.

Rosser, who was born in Syracuse, N.Y., has been charged with child sex crimes in the United States and Thailand.

He was originally arrested in Bangkok on Feb. 9, 2000, on charges of lewd behavior and possession of pornographic materials after police raided his apartment and found hundreds of explicit photographs and videos of girls who appeared to be younger than age 15.

He jumped bail two months later before his trial had been due to take place and was believed to have fled Thailand.

In March 2000, he was indicted by a U.S. federal grand jury in Indianapolis on six counts of producing and distributing child pornography, including a video that showed him having sex with a girl said to be 11.

The FBI offered a $50,000 reward for information leading directly to Rosser's arrest, describing him as an admitted child molester who may have suicidal tendencies.

Rosser had worked as a pianist at Bangkok's luxury Oriental Hotel and ran a music school at his home where he gave lessons to children from prominent families.

In an open letter and an interview with The Nation newspaper after his arrest last year, Rosser admitted to frequent indecent acts with children and claimed he had lived a tortured life because of it. He said he would face punishment.

Rosser, who has a Thai wife and a young son, faces between 5 and 20 years in prison if convicted in Thailand. U.S. authorities were expected to extradite him after the Thai case was resolved.

Our teachers are union here. They also belong to a professional organization called the Ontario College of Teachers. The OCT is a body that is supposed to ensure that teachers (on the whole) are doing their jobs. Similar to other professional licensing bodies.

Anyways, if this happened, and a parent reported it, it would go to the union and the OCT. Both would investigate what happened, and there would be a tribunal to decide upon coarse of action. Could be anything from a written reprimand (in this case, so long as no other complaints came forward, that would be likely) to immediate dismissal and being booted out of the OCT and union.

Was it inappropriate? Yes. You're in an environment that is supposed to be conducive to learning. If you're feeling uncomfortable because the person responsible for your lesson has put you in a position whereby you feel uneasy because of what he's saying then there's a problem.
What's difficult to work out is, is he a creep or is he doing what a lot of teachers do which is to use risque humour to try and get on the side of the students? Either way, if you're not happy MP then it's up to you to figure out the best way of dealing with this. If you're confident to tell him what he's done is out of order - which there's no denying it is - then tell him. If you'd rather hand the issue over to someone else or another party you trust, then do so. It's not possible for any of us on this forum to say with absolute certainty what his motives are, but he's bang out of order whatever.
If you and you're fellow students are aware of what a great teacher is, then don't forget so is he.
Don't put up with behaviour like that MP. It's not on. And any *really* great teacher wouldn't say those things.

If they were *that* good a teacher they'd be able to teach a lesson and make a great joke without using one of your classmates as the butt of it.
How now, brown cow.

From a former high school teacher: report him or have your parents report him. What he said goes way beyond "risque" humor or innuendo. His comment was graphic and at the expense of one individual. God knows what is going on inside his head if that is what comes out of his mouth in class.

There's nothing innocent about this at all. Go to your parents immediately.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Ain't that the truth. This guy is way out of line, no matter how much of a "favorite" teacher he is. He needs to clean up his act big time.
