HOLY CARP!!!
|
Six days, 15 hours, 39 minutes and 11 seconds. 166 cigarettes not smoked, saving $58.21. Life saved: 13 hours, 50 minutes. Well, last night and this morning I had my first challenges. Last night, my ex had three of his friends from Toronto over. I wanted to say hi (as awkward as it was But I do miss those guys) and so I went over just for 10 minutes (Liam was asleep here, but of course it's just down the hall). Two of them are smokers (and my ex went back to smoking shortly after I did), and they were all sitting there smoking away as I chatted. On one hand, I really wanted to ask one of them for a drag. On the other hand, the smell of it just disgusted me. I stayed for 10 minutes, and the second I walked in the door of my place, I went and changed into jammies because I couldn't stand the smell of the smoke on my clothes. So yay for me.Second challenge - this morning I was at the laundromat doing my laundry (obviously), and there was a very attractive man there doing his (obviously single - you can learn a lot from someone by watching them do laundry!) Anyways, he went out for a cigarette, and I was SO tempted to go join him. But I resisted. Today, I've barely had any cravings at all. I've maybe thought about it 4 times - all just quick passing thoughts - not heavy cravings - including the laundromat incident - and I've been up since 7, so that's not too bad!

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Great job! A week is a long time.. and you already find the odor foul!!! Just keep thinking of Liam growing up associating that smell with you.. ought to provide some motivation. |

Great work - keep it up! It was the thought of my kids that finally got me to stop. Well, that and the threat from my wife that we wouldn't be trying for any if I smoked

Way to go, dol! The hardest part is behind you now. The longest part is ahead. When you think of yourself as a non-smoker instead of an ex-smoker, you'll know you're about there. I quite 14 years ago and I almost never recall myself as a smoker. If I do, it's in the context of "wow, I'm glad I don't do that anymore." Congratulations on a week of success and many more to come. We're proud of you, Dol. It's a hard habit to break. Hang in there. And satisfy your oral fixation in other ways.

Many congratulations! And I second what Diva said about looking better in the future. I've worked at the same place for 23 years. I notice people who smoke at work get more wrinkles and leathery skin. They just seem to look about 20 years older than they should. Oh, just don't quit going after cute guys.
