And then there are those dork boys, such as myself, who can barely even walk outside before gorgeous women are tearing off their clothes and throwing their nude bodies at us, pleading with us to teach them physical pleasures they have only dreamed of... Aw carp. Who the hell am I fooling?

Where was all this female dorky goodness when I was a single dork many long years ago? I could have just let my slide rule swing at my side and been swept off my feet, dragged into the bushes, and compelled to perform various acts until I died with a smile on my face.Ah, well, what might have been if I'd been born thirty (or forty) years later Big Al |

Al, when I was in highschool, the dork chic thing had not yet arrived. The dorks were still a much maligned breed. Being a dork girl, I tried to have my way with a few of them. I learned one very important lesson: Dorks are smart about everything but women*. Neon signs and a club were considered to be too subtle when trying to let a dork know that they're interesting. My guess is that you had dork girls trying to catch your attention, but you had your dork-blinders on and just didn't see it. *this is an undeniable truth, until the right dork-girl finally comes along - usually in a dork's early twenties. He worships her, she teaches him how to be the perfect boyfriend, and all is well. They still aren't good at the signals (read: bring your neon sign and club) but once you get them to see that you want them, they know exactly how to sweep a girl off her feet. |

89, when I made the slideshow, you were nowhere to be found. I think you may have been in Europe? For 2 weeks I solicited photos from people and you never responded. I'm sorry you weren't included, really I am, but it certainly wasn't intentional on my part.

"I'm sorry you weren't included, really I am, but it certainly wasn't intentional on my part." Yes it was, you just don't like him. BTW, I'm sure I've said it before, plays, but that tribute is awesome. I still have yet to copy it to my hard drive, but it was really very special. Us tough macho guys aren't supposed to admit it, but it definitely brought a tear or two to my eye. The OCR was a very special "place," and your show captured things perfectly. Thanks again. |

Thank you, Dwain. It was a project of love -- you guys have no idea how meaningful it was for me to find The Coffee Room when I did. It was the least I could do in return. |

I guess that's one thing we have in common. I forgot to send my picture to Plays too. I had visions of my avatar superimposed with the words "Phlebas: Master thread killer," and Tom Petty singing "Change the Locks" in the background. Just kidding, Plays. It was a great slide show, and I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for the hard work, and the memories. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |
