phykell, You seemed (and still do) to have a problem understanding that the Internet is not your private message service. You do indeed owe me and others an explanation for an innuendo presented as "fact" ( and one particularly open to many hostile readings) in what was inteded to be a Birthday Greeting thread. A thread, which was ironicallly, started by Plays who would be the last to support some of your past allegations and who probably (once you have the nerve to speak clearly and see if you're right or wrong) would be the last to stand behind such a smear. So I'll ask you again, less politely, in the manner you have spoken (without - notice - answering my original questions!) . What in the hell are you implying, with "too bad they forced you off"? Furthermore, I'll even be more courteous than you and answer your question about my motives - which ARE truly none of your business. (Anyone and everyone, can fancy to open ANY thread out of idle curisity. I need your permission? ) I was curious to see if he had replied. Now I have another question for you. Why DID you feel compelled to start trouble here? I've already explained why I stepped in. If you'd wanted this to be a jolly best-wishes thread full of happy thoughts, perhaps you should have had the good judgment to keep nasty insinuations out of it. |

Looking for trouble again, phykell? I guess you might as well send a PM to everyone who didn't burst forth in the Birthday song, questioning their lack of good wishes. Better, still - how about a thread, called "to all who failed to wish Tom a 'Happy Birthday"...[inside thread] WHY NOT? Then print names. My God, get with. |

You're fond of writing large diatribes so I'll respond in kind with your indulgence: Amanda, I was very clear with you. I told you my post wasn't intended for you, you ignored me. I firmly but politely drew your attention to the various points again when you wouldn't let it drop. As far as I'm aware this is perfectly aligned with most peoples' opinion of what constitutes civility. That's my opinion and not a statement of fact by the way. You can tell because I didn't precede it by using the word "fact" as an explicit qualifier. Actually, that's interesting because when people state something as fact as you accused me of doing, they really do tend to use some sort of emphasis or qualification. Conversely, where people offer their opinion, they are not generally required to use the words "allegedly" in all the right places, simply to avoid charges of being a statement of fact unless, perhaps, it's a court of law. This *isn't* a court of law is it? I'm not really on the stand am I? Now let me draw your attention to my original post: I said, " Happy birthday Tom. Wish they hadn't forced you off this forum". I guess it *could* be interpreted as a statement of fact but I prefer to think of this statement as the expression of a personal opinion. If I was stating a fact I would probably say as much. Another indication might be the use of some supporting evidence. I did neither. Nevertheless, you saw my expression of my opinion as "inflammatory" and you then chose to denigrate my opinion as mere "assumption"! You actually excused your hijacking of this thread by saying that you replied to me here because I'd stated what I did as "fact[ual]" despite me having just confirmed in my previous post that what I'd said *was* indeed my opinion. Now we've got that settled... Actually Amanda I owe you nothing. My opinion is my own and I will NOT justify it to you. Deal with it. My mind is made up and I'm perfectly satisfied with my assessment of the situation. It's not something you're going to change no matter how many threads and posts you dig up and no matter what light you choose to cast them in. You have your opinion and I have mine. If anyone asks me if I believe Tom felt forced off this forum I will tell them that I *do* believe that was the case but it's unlikely I would enter into any discussion as to why I believe as I do because I don't believe there's anything to be gained here by that sort of discussion. Incidentally, there are people here who are genuinely disappointed with the way this thread is going and I'm afraid it seems I must accept at least some responsibility. If I'd known such a comment, which really was directly to Tom in the vain hope he might read it, would derail this thread as it has done, I wouldn't have made it and for that I offer my apologies.

Had I seen any evidence that TomK actually read the thread and responded, I'd wish him happy birthday, too. But when he's not posting in the forum any longer, it seemed rather pointless. Again, sorry to be so boring. |
