Are you going to quote some Huck Finn for us next?

Even if I did, I think we're all mature enough here to understand the context.

I think most of us are mature enough not to qute racial epithets found in literature or cinema out of context in order to get a cheap laugh (if anyone were to find it funny).

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Next time you're watching Full Metal Jacket, let me know so I can call you up when that line is about to be said, so I can tell you to close your ears.

Let me put it to you nice and sparkling clear (avatar reference), my wife is Chinese, her family is my family and I have many friends who are from that part of the world so, while I am not Asian, I am offended by your choice of movie dialog to quote out of context. Leave it up if you want but that is my final word on the matter.

I have many, many asian friends as well. They would understand that it's a movie quote.

I wasn't insulting any asians at all, it was a movie quote.

If you don't care if it's left up, then I'll leave it up. No problem.

movie dialog to quote out of context

If you infer that I'm personally attacking asians, then it's YOU who is taking it out of context, not me.

You are attacking Asians. And you're attacking blacks by inferring that you as a white man are better than they are.

Wait, so I quoted a movie...but I quoted it in order to ATTACK asians personally?

Wait, so I asked why blacks say "wiff" and "aks", so that I could say that the male white race is better than blacks?

Justme, you're wrong.

Alright, let me put it this way. You profess to be a Christian. Would Christ say the things you're saying?

If a black guy came up to him, and said "Jesus, lemme aks you a question. My wife is sick wiff a cough, etc.."

Then yes, I could see JC asking the same questions regarding their speaking behavior. What's the problem?

89th, I don't know any other way to say this. You're making excuses for your comments designed to shirk your responsibility for your own actions. Asking why black people use the word aks is one thing. Using the word Gook is quite another. You've been told by others that you offended them by using it, and your response has been to tell them if they were offended it's their problem, because you didn't mean to offend them. Whether you meant to or not is not the issue - you did. And you offended them not only because you used the word, but because your response to every single admonition to think about what you write was met with the justification of "it's true", and in general your social skills regarding this entire thread topic has been the equivalent of a bull in a china shop.

I'm not trying to make you mad 89th, I'm trying to help you. You're a good kid, but you have the social refinement of a goose.

Ok, so you think my question regarding blacks is fine. Great! Apparently others didn't think so at first. I guess now this "gook" quote has all the attention.

You've read the thread, you've seen how on MULTIPLE occasions people are claiming I'm a white supremacist, I'm personally attacking asians, I don't like anyone that's of a different culture, etc.

Why don't you get on them for making completely incorrect assumptions?

Like I said, everything I've said is true.

First, my question about blacks is honest, and completely valid.

Secondly, my movie quote has been personally prefaced many times that I'm not attacking anyone, and just quoting a movie. A quote that we are mature enough to understand the context in which it was said, and to also not infer racial bigotry that isn't there.

If there's any insult here, it's from those who are claiming I'm maliciously asking questions from a superior perspective, which I'm not.

I don't get it. We all have the same mouth, biological structure and speak the same language, yet I'm standing in line today and I hear this black girl say "wiff" instead of "with", and "aks" instead of "ask".

I can understand if you come from Korea and can't pronounce an "s" at the end of "dollars" or some other plural word, I understand and have seen that...but I don't understand why blacks actually say those words differently. I mean, we all have accents and variations of words, but not entirely different spellings of the word when pronounced phonetically.

This is coming from a white guy.

...also known as 'European Americans'.

You must have grown up in a place where they don't speak ebonics. You're not from Idaho, are you? :D

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

Dear, dear 89th

Whether you meant to or not, doesn't matter. Whether you see the insult or not, doesn't matter.

JB has just flat out told you that you have insulted him.

APOLOGIZE NOW.

sheez...

He's done worse than that. He has insulted my wife. He didn't mean to but use of that term amounts to the same thing. I don't expect an apology and I am not even angry. I'm just trying to get him to look at the brick wall he's about to run into. However, I will not press the point. I tried to warn him and now I will just sit back and let nature take its course.
