This is the sort of information that comes in handy answering children's questions. They're often the only ones who ask why things are rather than just accepting that that's how they are.

That's really cool Al, thanks for sharing. :)

Side note: I often wondered as a kid (and still do) if we all see different colors and have no idea. There would be no way to test that. My blue could be your red, and we wouldn't be the wiser.

Interesting article, Big Al.

89th key,

I’d expect (but of course can’t prove) that the sensation for one person would be incomprehensible to another. All that matters is that there be a consistent agreement between different people as to what color they’re both seeing.

Thanks Big Al .... another mystery explained. I can remember googling this a few years back when my child asked this question of me. I like this explanation better. It's quite true that having a child makes idiots of us all. The more I think I know, the more I'm challenged with what I don't know. Kids today are so smart ... they ask the complex questions much earlier than when we were children.

HOLY CARP!!!
Interesting article, Big Al. Thanks!

Last night, my three year old led me down this line of quetioning:

"What is this made of, mum?"

"Plastic"

"But what's plastic made of?"

*searching brain* "Oil"

"But oil isn't hard but the platic is hard. Why?"

"Because they do something to it to make it hard" *kicking myself here because I know what's coming next is:*

"What do they do to it to make it hard, mum?"

"Hey, Liam! Look! There's a bunny outside!"

dol, I have five (youngest is 21 now). They all came up with new questions. I swear if I had real answers to half the f**king questions they asked, I'd be a f**king genius now.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

So, why is the sky black at night?

Affirmative action.

Don't call it black. Call it Onyx!
