HOLY CARP!!!
We rented it & watched it last night. It wasn't anything like we expected; we figured it was going to be a comedy (and a pretty mindless one at that), based on the previews we saw in the theaters, and with Tyler Perry playing several of the parts himself, in various costumes. SWMBO & I were really surprised. Sure, it had the sort of humor seen in the trailer, but that was just a small portion of what we felt was actually a very thoughtful and touching movie, dealing with all sorts of human conflict and contradiction, faith, family, and commitment. Some of the events were predicatable, but just as many weren't. Anyway, we really enjoyed it, and if you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it.

Mmmmmmm, pie!
Dwain, I got a screener copy of that movie a few months ago (screeners are full copies of the movie that have "not for sale or rent" scrolled across the screen every so often, sent to video stores to advertize it ahead of the ordering deadline). I had no idea what it was, but thought I'd look at maybe 10 or 15 minutes of it just to see if I should order some. I couldn't turn it off. It was just as you say - a touching, wonderful movie. I've watched it about 4 times now, and will probably watch it again.

It doesn't hurt either, that the woman in the starring role is just HOTTT......

Bump. I just watched it again - if you haven't already, you've got to see this movie. And by the way, Larry's right - that leading lady is HOT!

And if you never knew anyone like Madea & Joe, you've missed out on life. :D
