Those are pretty cool -- I am thinking of building some of them myself for my home office that now has bog standard sliding doors on the closet. |

Very cool! Back when I worked in engineering for a mobile home park company, we actually installed a few two-story mobile homes. They were the talk of the park wherever we put them. |

Those doors remind me of secret rooms in castles. I would love to have one. The door that is.......although a castle would be nice too!

Seeing that 'home up on stilts like that reminds me of one of the first jobs I looked at after I got my license. It was a small mobilehome park in Compton, built about 1950. Nice, clean little park with only one problem - it had been built over a dump and it was sinking. Near as I could see, it had sunk about 6 feet since it was built. This wouldn't have been too much of a problem except the sewer lines, which had been buried at about 6' originally, were now above ground. They were paved over like speed bumps where they crossed the roads, and the electric/water lines were all above ground as well. The owner of the park had addressed the problem by raising the 'homes bit by bit as they sunk low enough that the sewers would start backing up due to lack of fall. Some of them were nearly 5 ft. off of the ground when I saw them, and with the sewers now above ground there wasn't much farther up they could go. It became obvious as I listened to the owner and his engineer was that what they really wanted was someone with a lot of insurance to put on the hook for the problem. The park built was over 100 feet of trash, and they knew darn well that was going to continue to sink forever. No one in his right mind was going to spend the amount of $ it would take to solve the problem - not based on the space rent for about 25, 1950's era mobilehomes in Compton. I'm not sure what they ever did about it. I thanked them for their considerartion and ran like hell.
