HOLY CARP!!!
|
I know, I know. I can't believe i went and saw this. But after watching Revenge of the Sith four times in the theatre (shush!) I got sucked in by the trailer. The trailer made the movie out to be an action flick with a bit of a goofy relationship background. What it actually turned out to be was a movie made to try to attract women with the romantic element, and men with the action element. It succeeded at neither. There were a few funny moments. There were a couple good action sequences. But all in all, it was disappointing. The trailer was VERY misleading - moreso than I've ever seen before. Lines were changed and sequences were spliced together to make it look like something it wasn't. If anyone out there is just dying to see this wait for it to come out on DVD. Unless of course you view Angelina Jolie as eye candy - in that case, I can totally see it being worth it - she is rather enticing in this particular role. Brad Pitt was decent in it as well, but not good enough to be worth even the $8.50 at my small local theatre. |

LOL! The first time I saw the preview, I was skeptical - I'm not a Jolie fan (but again, if you're a fan, this is the movie to see her in - she was pretty hot) and though I like Brad Pitt I just assumed it would be so-so. But I saw the trailer enough that the advertising worked on me. I like a good action flick. But as far as action flicks go it was too clean - not a high enough body count. The sex scenes they used in the trailer hinted at good things to come in that direction, but the trailer was about as steamy as it got. And I think anyone looking for a funny relationship type movie would be turned off by the action sequences. |

Pretty sure last time I went to the theater was to take my kids to see the original Jurassic Park, or maybe it was the Flintstones (whichever was out last). What's that, 10-12 years ago? Not sure much worthwhile has been released in the last decade or two. The Flintstones certainly wasn't worth it. I think I rather would have enjoyed Twister, though. |

Good take on the movie Dol, I agree. Well, I basically said it was rental worthy...I'm not sure if you'd agree. But yes, I was disappointed as well. |

I more or less agree with your assessment, 89th. The only thing I would quibble about would be the sarcasm - I thought that was actually one of the better points of the movie - and on a minor point, I don't think they were government agents but rather private assassins. Tee hee - I think it's funny that you mentioned that they don't mind killing dozens of people - one of my complaints was that the body count wasn't high enough and that it wasn't graphic enough. Not that I need tonnes of blood and gore or anything in that type of movie, but it was SO sterile. And they really took great pains to make it squeaky clean - from the sex scenes to the shooting sprees, it was all obviously done in such a way that they didn't want to offend. |

Twister is one of my favorite movies. Tornadoes fascinate me for some reason. I have it on VHS, but am looking for the DVD to replace it as we are done with our VCR. I'm a Jolie fan, but Brad Pitt leaves me cold. I will probably rent it on DVD when it comes out. Thanks for the tips Dolly. |

If I were Brad, I would have left Jennifer Aniston for Angelina, too. In a heartbeat. |

Not me. Angelina might be a good one-nighter, but Aniston is definitely better looking and seems to have a better personality. |
