HOLY CARP!!!
Not 60 mpg, but 60 USD per barrel!

It's a valuable commodity getting more and more valuable, and it's good to know that our men and women in uniform (as opposed to some body else's) are standing on the sand guarding it.

I know this will have an effect upon our economy, but it may be good news in a perverse sort of way. The country needs to be as energy independent as possible, and there is a lot of pretty decent technology out there, that we are simply not using.

When it gets to 75, buy! (A hybrid or biodiesel that is!)
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I can't believe I'm going to agree with Jolly on something. But yep. I agree. I'm ok with rising oil prices and the resulting high gas prices. The energy crisis of the 70s paved the way for the compact car - a similar situation now is what could convince automakers (and other industry) to move to alternative energy sources.

The fact is, our prices are extremely low compared to most of the world. We should count ourselves lucky that the current prices are what they are.

In line with Jolly and Dol's thoughts, it also needs to sink into the consumer consciousness that we can no longer afford to waste as we have in the past.

Stick around, kid. I'll make a card-carryin' Christian Coalition Red State Republican outta you, yet...
