Hmmm.... He does have some good points (and since the feminists have already taken my secret decoder ring for saying I prefer to work for a male manager, I guess I'm in no danger now). What I wonder about is that numbers that say that women make less money for doing the same exact job as men. A lower salary for the same position, or a lower hourly wage for the same position. If they took the numbers from the accumulation of a lifetime of work, I can see how women would make less: We're more likely to take time off for maternity leave. We're more likely to take the sick day when a child is ill, etc etc. It's been too long since I've seen a study that shows the wage gap for me to say for sure how they are basing the numbers for those jobs where there is still a gap in salary for the exact same job to say for sure. Interesting article - I'm just not sure if it shows the whole picture. |
