HOLY CARP!!!

If he was carrying out her wishes how is it a slap in the parents' faces? The parents were the aggressors here. If you respect the institution of marriage you respect that it is the spouse's place to make these decisions and carry out the will off the sick one. |

tit for tat. The parent's still lost their daughter. Throw them a bone for God's sake. He could have added "loving daughter". FWIW I was on Michael's side. To me this smacks of HAHA I WON! |

I agree. "Loving daughter" would have been a good addition. It would have been a lasting move towards healing. |

Please notice the date of death, and the added wording at the bottom. This is cold, and calculating. Methinks many of you have defended a man who has little compassion, or mercy. Therefore, let us hope David Burton is right...may Jeb break him financially like a piece of stale pasta.... |

I Owe It All To John D'Oh

That's quite an expensive headstone for a man supposedly devoted to killing his wife so he could make off with the already-used-up insurance proceeds. |

The question is, what promise did he make? He might have said in a fit of anger, "I swear to God I'll kill you!!!" Also, she obviously did not "depart this earth" in 1990. Dead people have no animation and they quickly decompose. She was very much alive until he had her killed through starvation and dehydration. I still think he is, if not a monster, incredibly misguided and brutally insensitive to the parents. |

For those of you who have been supporters of Mr. Schiavo through this entire ordeal, what are your opinions of his actions after Terri's death? |

I was never a supporter of Mr. Shiavo. I just wanted Terri to have a dignified death according to what every court decided was her wishes. She's finally has that. Mr. Shiavo's actions are irrelevant. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

"death", I'll grant you. "dignified" -- I can't see being starved and dehydrated as being "dignified". It would have been better to smother her with a pillow. |

Michael's acts of infidelity were enough to show he doesn't respect the institution of marriage. Jolly's right, his actions are cold and calculating. |

The tombstone is so much more about him, and not her, that it's sickening. I don't care who was right or who was wrong in the whole debate. Her headstone should memorialize her, and leave her in peace, as it were. I hate most political bumperstickers. Most of them think they're being pithy or cute, or sarcastic, to make their point. What they really are is obnoxious, in-your-face intrusions on my personal space telling me all about the opinion that someone has that I don't really care about - if I want to know your opinion, I'll ask you for it; until then, assume I don't give a damn & leave me alone. This is a big bronze bumper sticker, not a respectful headstone. I would have thought that even Michael Schiavo had some minimum shred of human decency, and would let her finally rest in peace away from the controversy. Apparently not. What trash. |

A little guy stood up for what he believed in, a little David stood up against the collective Goliath that is the Governor of a great state, the pro-life movements, the Congress of a great nation, and the President of a Superpower, all of whom tried to derail his effort to carry out his late wife's wish. Here is a man, a persistent man, a man with passion, a man with backbone, a man who simply would not give up, not even when facing the opposition from the Governor, the Congress, and the President. Oh, yes, make no mistake. Such Herculean deed deserves to be carved into stone, made into movies, and be remembered forever. You want a man with passion and backbone to respect, M. Schiavo is such a man -- now RESPECT HIM. |

I find it a little hard to cast Mr. Schiavo in the role of Greek mythology. Especially when viewed in the light of his actions after one of his wives death. Bullfinch material, he ain't. |

The persistence was inspired by her request, the persistence was necessary to honor her request. The whole struggle was a defining feature of their relationship. She would be proud. It was entirely appropriate. |

Michael Schiavo is worthy of contempt, not respect, and unless something really miraculous and life-altering happens to him, that's all he'll ever get from me. |
