I thought this forum was essentially unmoderated. Was I wrong about that? Or does that only apply until the moderators get sufficiently frustrated?

When your life is held up as the example of the epitomy of medical technology, I would say it's more like Death, and Taxes....

Confined as you confine yourself Jolly.

Tom,

Some people don't care to get along. This is a discussion that revolved around medical practices that extrapolated itself into the realm of the personal.

As to the beginning argument of medical practice, I have seen nothing, repeat nothing that has changed my mind. I have asked for medical review refutation - I have received none. I have asked for example of British companies that deliver high technology to the bedside - I have received none (and I thought they would have mentioned Galaxo).

What we currently have is nothing more than some dude who's not happy because his girlfriend/wife/mistress/paramour/whatever-she-is got her knickers in a wad because somebody disagreed with her.

And no, I'm not any happier today, than I was yesterday.

So I do not mind getting along with folks, but this playing field will be level. Sometimes, I have a lot more of the OT in me, than is good for my soul...

I prefer Gryphon's term, "slut" actually.

Well done Jolly. You've succeeded in something - even if it's only in baiting me into coming back one more time to refute this silly claim.

Come on now. If I really got my knickers in a twist everytime someone disagreed with me do you seriously think I'd be going out with Wacky? Tying in first place with my sister for the most argumentative person on the planet........

Nope. The reason I don't want to debate here anymore is because you can't argue with stuff that's just made up willy nilly - which is what I believe Larry was doing. Makes it all rather pointless.

Besides, you're all so emotional.......

;)

Oh, I don't know if I'd call it emotional...passionate perhaps.

And I only reserve the word "slut" for those that deserve it...

Unfortunately for your opinion, I can prove that I was in the process of my regularly scheduled visits to my oncologists days before this thread even started, much less turned to the topic of cancer. Some of us do talk regularly off the forums, and we discussed my recent round of tests and doctor visits almost a week beforehand. And no, Jolly isn't one of them. If they read this and choose to identify themselves, that's their business. But the fact remains, my recent round of tests and doctor visits are beyond doubt, and proveable.

This may come as a surprise to you, but people who meet me usually like me. I make friends easily. Over the 2 year period I have been going to the treatment center, first monthly, then every three months, I have become good friends with my doctors - so much so that 2 of them have been to my home, and I've been to their home, with our spouses we've gone out to dinner together, etc. So it shouldn't be all that surprising that at my 2 year point where if I passed all the tests would get to switch from every 3 months to every 6 months, all 5 doctors wanted to examine me, they routinely look at my tests as a team, and then at this watermark in my progress, meet with me as a team.

As I said, days before this thread even started, I had gone through almost a day's worth of tests, bloodwork, etc. This was discussed off site with others here, days before this thread started. The day I posted my first post in this thread was as it happens the day I went back to the treatment center for that meeting with my doctors. As I drank my morning coffee that day, I read the forums, and read this thread, literally for the first time. I read the debate going on between you and Jolly, and not knowing beans about it myself one way or the other, decided that since I would be sitting in front of 5 of the best oncologists in the country, would ask them. I did, and posted their responses.

Now you may not like their responses, you may disagree with them, but you cannot accuse me of "making it up willy nilly". I can prove I was in the process of my 2 year round of tests far too easily. I was not trying to "help" one side or the other, or "hurt" one side or the other - I was simply interested in the questions being raised, and posting the answers I got when I asked the doctors.

Larry,

I'm so glad you're better and now you're getting married again. Now hopefully Wacki's getting better as well. It must be terribly stressful for all of you. You, Wacki, Lucy and your fiancee.

personally, I don't care where you're cured. Britain or in the US. As long as you both hang around for a while.

I wish you guys could come to terms with each other. There's so much support you could be giving each other as opposed to all this nastiness. Who cares if you're on the right or the left in politics as long as your alive?

Then, sometimes I think maybe you guys don't want to come to terms and actually enjoy the debate.

I don't know.

Peggy, I didn't have any agenda when I posted my first post in this thread other than to relate what my doctors had told me just hours before in response to the questions this thread raised in my mind. If they had told me that the majority of people who receive chemo were hospitalized, I'd have said that too. I wasn't thinking about lucy, Wacki, or Jolly when I asked the question, I was simply curious about the points being debated. In return I was repeatedly called a liar, and then attacked by Wacki, all because lucy didn't like what I posted.

You know, Larry, as much as she graces the screen, I don't think it is fair to your lovely lady to use her as an avatar especially when threads turn ugly. You might reconsider returning to that dapper avatar you had.

I know it was awful. I missed the exchange that started all this. There was ugliness on both sides. I'm not blaming you in the least. I honestly don't know who started it. I have an inkling though it goes deeper than this argument over chemo.

This thread and others didn't paint anyone in a very good light. Myself included.

again, I'm so glad you're better and looking forward to what I'm sure will be a great marriage.

We are essentially unmoderated.
How many instances of moderation have you seen in the thousands of posts here.
I think we've locked a thread once, and moderated content once or twice.

....

The bottom line is, we are also aware of what people who contribute here want. And if enough of them complain to us that something is out of hand, then we will politely ask those of you participating in it to cool it off.
I didn't come in here and ban people or edit people's posts. I came in and asked everyone to take it down a notch.
There's no reason that 4 of you need a public forum to argue who's cancer treatment is better. You can PM each other if you really want to talk to each other, or email each other. But nobody else is enjoying the argument anymore (especially now that it has metastasized into another thread).

Carry on... but with a bit less fury perhaps.

You are quite right.

I spoke earlier about dragging up OCR threads...to me, it shows agenda, or at the very least, people who are still chewing on something they cannot spit out...

What a pile of bullshit, is this jackass still trying to pretend that he's having some cerebral altercation about medical practices? Get a grip and give it up Jolly yer great wall of shite. (i mean this in the most lighthearted way you could wish for)

OK, that's enough.

Wacki,
we have a PG-13 rating here. We really don't have many rules, but apparently you haven't read the ones that we DO have.

Everyone stop it on your own... I'll lock the thread but would prefer not to.

If you guys REALLY need to discuss this further take it to PM.

I am expecting to not see any more replies in this thread of an attacking nature... got it?
