It's nice to see people sharing their agreements, not just their disagreements. jgoo, your "baby-sitting" experiences make me wonder what kind of permissive parents these children had? Drawing limits can be tough, as exampled by the item that started this thread, but some still need to be drawn. This is nowhere more true than with middle school children who seem to fluctuate between thinking they're adults and trying to act like them and still being children without a clue. The hormones seem to work on different parts of the body and brain in a somewhat random fashion. The change of voice as boys mature is maybe a good example of this as they go from high to low and back as they talk. In areas where defining absolute limits is very difficult, we really must rely on the common sense and good will of the teachers, principals, and superintendent with the responsible oversight of the elected school boards. When we see idiocy occur, they need our support to know that someone has their back when they're trying to do the right thing. Big Al |
