My good friend is deployed to Iraq...; ...here's my updated stance on the war.

My friend Jon is leaving for Iraq (Fallujah) tomorrow. He graduated from the Naval Academy last year, and signed up with the USMC (marines), and now is leaving tomorrow. We just got back from showing him a good time at a local bar, and won't see him until next spring.

My new stance on the war? I support it even more.

We have liberated 50 million+ people, and now have fine men over there securing Iraq's future as best we can. He gets even more respect in my book. There aren't many people out there who will sign up to serve during a war. But it's because of men and women like him that we are making the world safer.

...oh, and he's well off, so he definitely didn't have to serve.

God bless him, our nation, and the world.

Indeed, Katie and NAK. :)

I have every bit of confidence in his return, but it's an odd feeling to say "goodbye" to someone as they head off to war. Sorta the, is this the last time I'll see him?" feeling. Natural, I guess.
