David, do you think gay marriage will never be legal?  Perhaps you're right, in that it may never be legal in all 50 states, but quite a few blue states will pass gay legislation within the next few decades I'm guessing.

Yes, it will be legal, and the result will make all marriages more tenuous than ever, through disrespect of the original institution. It's part of a decadent trend leading to the collapse of a civilization. Since marriage will no longer be "respected," the disintegration of families, the moral corrosion of society and with it civilization itself, will continue. We are on a road that leads to a Bladerunner like world; highly technical, tribal and barbaric. It will be a society without order, where there are clear hierarchies defined by political control over various places and resources by various consortiums that rule by force alone. All law will be a mere ornament to the basic raw mob rule that will result. Incredible strides will be made in bio science that will enable those with the connections and credits to tremendously extend their lives and to devise boutique bugs to kill designated minorities. Many millions of people will die in horrendous high tech wars involving these bio-terrors. We will all be doomed. The living may come to envy the dead. Those who planned this population depletion will imagine that they will end up on top as some sort of gods. But the climate changes that are underway, that have nothing whatever to do with fossil fuel use, will continue; weather will get worse until the shift comes back to the next ice age which will last for the next few hundred thousands of years. None of this will matter as we will all be dead by then.

You are all free to laugh. You have plenty of time to do so right now. We are on the eve of another Dark Ages.

I'm only half serious, but...

Within the next few generations, gay marriage will eventually be legalized.

I can only hope it's done state by state, so that I know where I'm going to live.

you might try San Francisco.
it behooves me to behold

You know I just bought that on DVD since I've never had the chance to see it? I've heard both good and bad reviews of the film...but I'll see it soon enough.

...nice diatribe by the way! :thumb:

I don't agree with Steve and the congratulatory tone is way premature. In fact the backlash is already mounting among the young themselves who amazingly enough, without any prompting from older people, are making up their own minds that they just don't like people who are gay and more in their face stuff about them is going to make it worse. Have any of you heard the word "gay" used in a manner suggesting old hat or passé? I have, among the young. I don't know where they got it from, but it will spread. I had wished that the Civil Rights movement would have resulted in a more color blind society, an end to racism etc. None of this is ever going to happen and I'm more than ever convinced that the reasons are visceral not mental; they are part of the animal nature not that which is human. There may be no way around this, it may be a fatal flaw in our species. Cinsider how other animals settle their differences, they often fight.

Does this suggest to you that there is a difference between race and sexual preference? After all, the civil rights movement has achieved a largely color blind, if not fully integrated, society.

Perhaps the kids aren't convinced of the rhetoric and the gay education agenda that they've been assailed with for the past decade or so. I see no reason to think that this is part of the "animal nature". It could just be that the very things that are fully part of their "humanity" such as rationality, the ability to detect lies and manipulation, an innate moral compass, and such won't let them accept that violence is being done to the human condition in the name of "liberty", "equality", or "happiness".
The dogma lives loudly within me.

IT - Your comments are not surprising, since the Church has typically opposed liberty, equality and happiness. The only violence here is the gay-bashing of the Church.

Jeffery, perhaps you are just unable to distinguish between gay-bashing and personal moral integrity?

You think being gay and their marriage is OK.

Some think it's not OK.

If you think that's gay bashing, then you are sadly mistaken.

No one here is using their Church as a soapbox.

Jeffrey:

You seem to have garbled your sentence, no doubt intending to write "the Church-bashing by the gays."

I suppose that you are too close to it all to have any degree of objectivity -- you constantly fail to hold the high ground because of your hateful and bigoted invectives, and continue to resort to ad hominem (or rather ad ecclesiam) attacks rather than address the issues.

No, the Church does not settle for the facile enslavement of your utilitarian "happiness" when the person is made to be radically free. Someday, perhaps your own chains will be be loosed and you will understand the liberty, equality, happiness, peace and joy that Christ has won for you. Until then, you will rage and rail against the order of creation, against God, and against his Church, even as your forebear prophesied in Psalm 2:1.

You are fulfilling what has been spoken of from long ago. Keep going! :thumb:

But this argument is not being made on religious grounds -- as much as you wish to implicate religion so as to dismiss the argument.
The dogma lives loudly within me.
