HOLY CARP!!!
I run another board, which has very few members. Last night, I posted one of my email addresses to the board to a member could send me the info. I've never worried about this in the past, and I'm sure my email addy is listed in my profile here.

However, there is a lurker over there that would have good reason to want to know what was in that email account. I know this person was online for a good portion of this evening. The person knows me fairly well - well enough to take a crack at figuring out a password (there's precident there, though not with me). The account is one they didn't know about (suspected it was mine, but never confirmed).

Tonight, I tried to log into that account four different times over the span of about an hour. Each time, I got a message saying there had been "5 failed login attempts" so I had to answer some security questions to log in.

Needless to say, I changed my password to a letter/number combo that has absolutely no ties to anything. I don't think they could have guessed my old password, but it had a link to my email account name (a vague one, but it was there) so better safe than sorry, right?

What do you think - is my lurker a likely suspect? :ph43r:

You should change your password via the character map so as to include Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic as well as all the off-the-wall symbols we see every day but most of us don't know how to use. By the time you are finished no one will be able to crack your password. Even you.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
