HOLY CARP!!!

Here's a pleasant, non-controversial picture for your enjoyment:![]() (extra credit for those of you who instantly recognize this street) Now, let's see how long it takes this thread to morph into backhanded insults of George Bush... |

If Bush hadn't cut taxes and ruined the country, they might have had enough money to make the streets level...... Oh.... and I don't have a clue where it is. But as neat and clean as it is, it must be somewhere in San Fransisco..... |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

Ding, ding, ding! Good job, Phlebas! Now, did you know it instantly, or did you have to dig a little? There are a few clues in the picture, too. |

Uh...... given that it's a picture of the Smoky Mountains, that doesn't really surprise me...... ![]() Of course, it could be the Blue Ridge Mountains as well, since they are part of the Great Smoky Mountain range. |

Not instantly. It obviously looked like Bermuda, but had to search my memory for the street name. |

Gosh, Phlebas, You're the investigator. I thought sure you'd gone this route, like me (first one is just picture props): http://www.schwarzaufweiss.de/bermuda/images/bermuda1.jpg http://www.schwarzaufweiss.de/bermuda/bermuda3.htm PS For a millisecond it looked like the main street corner here in town - right opposite the University. Right, Dwaine? Doesn't that blue building remind you a little of the Corner Room? ![]() [edit: these links added] ![]()

No, it aint San Francisco, I know that place like... well let's just say anything that looks that old I'd know about. It looks like a place where it's a lot sunnier. Maybe some place in the Caribbean even. OK Hamilton, Bermuda, haven't been there yet. I think what we really need to do is figure out how to get more people who see things on the right the way we do to get on over to Fat Shirley's and have some fun discussing social issues like dating, raising children, preparing them for the world of the future, views of that world, etc. I'd like Bermuda in December, think I'll go there some time soon. |

Amanda, it took about a millisecond for me to place the exact location of your picture - if I had a nickel for every time I stood there - and at the Diner just a few buildings west of that corner (I REALLY want some grilled stickies), and in the bar in the basement just a few blocks north of that Corner (is it still Zeno's? That's where I got drunk after my very last class), and in the restaurant inside that building (where my family ate after graduation)- and especially in the little brick buildings (the Engineering Units - have they been torn down yet?) that tucked in behind the big, long, ugly (Hammond) building right across the street from that Corner! Thanks for sharing those pics! ![]() EDIT: OK, I know the entry to the Mall and Sackett Building are directly across the street, but it's close enough. BTW, the Arts Festival is coming up soon, isn't it? I need to get back there sometime, maybe this Fall... |
