Why's everyone getting their panties in a twist?
Matt... nobody speaking negatively about WTF... stop freaking out about it.

It's utterly obvious that the two places being discussed are different. Some of us cross-over ... some of us don't. But us/them language isn't a negative. It's simply how it is. Should we refer to every other Internet forum's memebers as "us"? ... obviously not.

Only one or two people in this thread have spoken negatively about the other thread ... and one of them does it completely in jest.
The rest of us are communicating openly, about how we feel about the two places, and their different feels. Some are comfortable more in one are than another... why's that so insluting to you?
Look at your post counts, you're obviously more comfortable there than here... so what? That doesn't bother me in the least.
The discussion is different there ... period. Get over it.
It's not a slam, or an insult. There's no reason to play the martyr and threaten to never return.
I think that we all (or at least the majority of us) get along to some degree.
The only person who has really offended me is Jeffrey, who was supposed to let me know when he was going to be in Colorado so I could prep a Steingraeber for him to play ... and he didn't.

Get over it people. If you enjoy posting in both places do ... if you do not, then don't.

Well said mate! :thumb:

I've looked back over my posts in this thread. The only person I feel I might have been offensive towards was 89th.

And I didn't even take it as offensive!! Then again, nothing really pisses me off. Well, maybe people who use "literally" or "retarded" incorrectly. And people who don't know how to turn off their car blinker. And game shows or tv shows that hit the climax and then say "to be continued next week". And maybe when someone interupts me while I'm playing the piano. Actually that last one gets me more upset than anything actually! And maybe people who write checks in the grocery line. And maybe waiting at a stop light when its boiling hot outside and the intersection not having a sensor-timed stop light, and waiting there with no one even remotely close but having to wait just cause the light is red. And maybe women's basketball. But that's it! :P

One word? Jealousy. Eight pages of interminable whining. WTF can't compete with that. :D

I'm the one who brought up Congress, and it was just as a comparison of the fora, i.e., NCR is to the House as WTF is to the Senate. I didn't propose that that's the proper tone for a political debate.

I'm not sure that comparing the NCR to the "Lower House" and the WTF to the "Upper House," full of august statesmen, is going to be a productive comparison in this discussion...

I'm glad I didn't spend the whole weekend participating in this thread. I personally choose to participate here in the NCR most often because I personally enjoy it more. I appreciated JF's invitation to come over. I have and will occasionally continue to, but the WTF doesn't rock my boat like the NCR does.

I do miss seeing what some of the OCR regulars might be up to and even take a peek at PW once in awhile, but I don't have time for all the fora so I focus on what I like best.

I did enjoy some of the NCR people saying things that I was thinking as I read. We have a nice mix of opinions, seasoned with a generous helping of humor and optimism that I reallly like.

I think JF's original post was made in a spirit on convivality. That's really all I have to say.

I went over there briefly. I took one look at John Andrew's avatar and figured it probably wasn't the place for me.

I didn't read the multiple pages of posts on this thread, but like JB, this is the exact reason I have not posted over there. I'm sure Cindy is a nice person, but if she is willing to accept and condone an avatar of this type, I would have to expect that any post I did make would not be respected.

jgoo has done a fantastic job with his site as Larry has also done with his. I personally am comfortable switching between those two.

Just my 2 cents.

I am not comfortable with a citizen of our country, who thinks so little of it that he takes pride in mocking its symbols.

Therefore, I choose not to associate with such people.

I am not "my country, right or wrong", but I think about the bodies strewn about the Gettysburg landscape, those who never returned from Belleau Wood, the guys who died clutching the sands of Normandy or Okinawa, the kid who died in the Tiger grass of the 'Nam, or Sargent Smith manning a 50 cal until the Iraqis gunned him down, deserve a little respect.

A lot of neatly folded triangles, that give a citizen the right to drool in public.

I hope they appreciate it...but I figure many never will....

I agree completely. The avatar seems to me to be chosen to offend. If that was not the intent, that is nonetheless the result.

Can you expand on what you find offesive about that particular avatar? Back a few pages, it was explained that traditionally, this is a universal distress signal - not any sort of signal of disrespect. Or is there a newer meaning that I haven't heard of?

Eek!! I was 3 days in Colorado Springs on a company shindig, relatives in tow (my wife and I won 4 places total, so we took her mother and aunt as well.). I saw South Park, the Garden of the Gods, hiked Cheyenne Canyon etc.., but there was no family consensus to visit a piano store. :(

But we plan to return, the wife's aunt lives in Denver. I didn't realize how beautiful Colorado was. I would have extended the trip beyond the 3 company paid days if I had known. :( Now I have offended you as well. Please don't sell the Steingraeber until I return. :)

Back in November, I posted the following on the OCR in response to a particularly nasty , hurtful comment made by Mr. Andrew. Even though I occasionally agree with some (but definately not all) of his positions, I find him to be bitter and subtly cruel and prefer not to participate in discussion with him. The flag thing follows true to his form in my mind.

Posted by me, Nov 2004:

Quite awhile back Larry made a very important observation:

"It takes both wings for the eagle to fly."

Right now, it appears as if there are some poisoned feathers on our left wing. (The whole Dan Rather/CBS thing, for instance) A few years back we had the same problem on the right wing. (Who paid for Paula Jones' nose job?) It would be best if rabid ideologues did not have undue influence. They are in fact a small (but loud) minority and do not represent the best interests of most of us. These types (on both sides) allow their ideologies to take precedence over basic common sense and morality. History has long shown that this is dangerous.

And yes JA, I’m referring to you here. It doesn’t matter which side you are on, your bitterness pervades your posts and poisons your position. Dwain, Jack Frost, Jolly, Larry, Kenny, David Burton, Bernard, Shantinik, Renauda, to mention a few, argue their various positions with intelligence, clarity and passion but without the bitterness. What reads through to me in your posts is that you are a most unhappy person.
Regards,
Chris

Knowing JA's history, the avatar speaks volumes about his view of America.

Now, that may be the America he lives in...the mind has funny ways of constructing its own prisons...but that ain't my America.

I would feel the same way, if he burnt the flag in front of me.

Now, there are plenty of folks over there I do not agree with politically, that have my respect...Mr. Frost comes immediately to mind. Nina is another. Even Cindi, when she's not in moot court mode, is a worthy, creditable adversary. I do not agree with many of their views, yet I feel they have the country's best interests at heart.

As do many others....

Actually, all four sites have value... The Pianist Corner from PW still intrigues... Larry's site is wonderful - with undiluted talent to learn from. This site is a nicer version of the OCR - vibrant and boisterous - and WTF - clearly has the best acronym - but while with fewer posters, has some interesting characters and threads.

I'll likely continue to post in all 4 places.

You're right... thread per thread they can't compete with 8 pages... our threads have staying power!
Now, we would lose though, if you began comparing the sheer number of whining-oriented threads.... even if we win in page count. :D

Ooooh! I'm so jealous!

Any picture?

Did you get to taste Chef's salty chocolate balls?
Did you get to ask Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny for their autographs?
Did they give you the finger or tell you to **** off?

Did they? Did they?

Do share!

I used to drive through there every year on my way to Crested Butte.
Bit of a drive, but if you'd gone you would have been amazed right now. It's the wild flower capitol of the world (supposedly) and we've had lots of moisture.
