HOLY CARP!!!
I can understand Matt's point. There's nothing wrong with those people over there. There is no reason to have any sort of ill with towards them, visit, don't visit, but no need to nickpick them to death.

(I HATE being the voice of reason. :mad2: )

I must say that I have found this entire thread dismaying. "Us" vs. "them" seems to be the underlying theme. How petty some of you sound. This thread has made me especially uncomfortable here in TNCR. I'm seeing the same bickering and backbiting that infested the CR on Piano World.

Have a nice time here, all of you, but you'll have to do it without me. I doubt I shall return. :(

Matt,

I hope I didn't appear petty. I was simply trying to be honest.

I would hate to see you go.

I'm with Matt. Although, I'm not going anywhere. This "WTF/TNCR" us vs. them stuff is stupid. How about we STF up already. :leaving:

I'm just having some fun, and maybe exaggerating some things. But the question was raised as to why some of us weren't going over there. People gave their reasons. Perhaps they were wrong in their reasoning or being overly sensitive, I don't know, but nobody should be chastised here for saying what they think. Especially when they were invited too.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I'm not sure which lawyer you are referring to, but my undergrad degree in music , no doubt, places me even lower in your insightful ranking.    I guess you ought to share your wisdom with law school admissions committees, at least the ones in the US which are apparently horribly misquided in their student selection practices.

This is from Cornell's page on preparing for law school:

A college education should stand on its own merits as preparation for a lifetime of active involvement in a diverse and changing society. Admission committees are usually impressed by applicants who can convincingly demonstrate that they've challenged their thinking and reasoning skills in a diverse course of undergraduate study. While no single curricular path is the ideal preparation for law school, you should choose courses that sharpen analytical reasoning and writing skills. Law schools prefer students who can think, read, and write well, and who have some understanding of what shapes human experience. You can acquire these attributes in any number of college courses, whether in humanities, the social sciences, philosophy, or the natural sciences.   It's not so much a matter of what you study as it is a matter of selecting courses that interest you, challenge you, and require you to use researching and writing skills. Because a lawyer's work involves most aspects of our complex society, a broad liberal arts curriculum is the preferred preparation for law school.  [emphasis added]

http://www.cornellcollege.edu/pre_law/

So KathyK you again assume wrong, and the gist of your post affirms the sort of exclusivity and attitude that some people here find unwelcoming in the WTC.

A degree or formal schooling in music or any other fine arts is a redeeming quality for any one, including lawyers. All the same, I would suggest you relax. Even smoke a joint or two if it would help and take Nuntax with you while you're at it. You see, I really don't give a rat's patootie what Cornell University or any selection committee thinks is necessary for would be law students.

This is so bizarre. I started this thread with an invitation. A genuine and innocent one.

I go back and forth and thought maybe some of the folks here would also enjoy the same. TomK and Apple and Plays and Improv and others whom you might think of as being HERE also post at WTF regularly and we value their presence. I was just hoping to pick up a few more cross posters.

This thread makes me very sad.

jf, who has an undergrad degree in Psychology and a Masters in Fine Arts and as a lawyer is at least above average.

I know you had good intentions Jack. I also said that it would be impolite of me to post there. Now you know why.

What a lot of nonsense over nothing. I like it that different people lend different atmospheres to each place and I post where I want. Move on folks.

BTW, I didn't know Kathyk had a music degree. Performance or theory?

Listen, I'm trying. I 've done some posting over there today. The only responses I've gotten have been Steve Miller, who I like and respect and posts over here as well, TomK whom I..... welll... ummmm(this is embarrasing!) just joking! , and Pianojerome, who also posts over here.

I'll keep trying though. I'm sorry if I offended anybody.

I, too, am sorry I offended anybody. I was simply trying to be honest. Gosh, this is depressing. I thought I had friends on both sides of the fence. If I've offended anybody I'm sorry.

Actually, I took one photograph of cows. And one of these days i will take it out of it's frame and sacan it and post it. It's one of the 4 or 5 photographs I took that endures....I don't have a lot of talent, but i do work very hard.

Why's everyone getting their panties in a twist?
Matt... nobody speaking negatively about WTF... stop freaking out about it.

It's utterly obvious that the two places being discussed are different. Some of us cross-over ... some of us don't. But us/them language isn't a negative. It's simply how it is. Should we refer to every other Internet forum's memebers as "us"? ... obviously not.

Only one or two people in this thread have spoken negatively about the other thread ... and one of them does it completely in jest.
The rest of us are communicating openly, about how we feel about the two places, and their different feels. Some are comfortable more in one are than another... why's that so insluting to you?
Look at your post counts, you're obviously more comfortable there than here... so what? That doesn't bother me in the least.
The discussion is different there ... period. Get over it.
It's not a slam, or an insult. There's no reason to play the martyr and threaten to never return.
I think that we all (or at least the majority of us) get along to some degree.
The only person who has really offended me is Jeffrey, who was supposed to let me know when he was going to be in Colorado so I could prep a Steingraeber for him to play ... and he didn't.

Get over it people. If you enjoy posting in both places do ... if you do not, then don't.

I've looked back over my posts in this thread. The only person I feel I might have been offensive towards was 89th. I made a couple of cracks about a flame war, but seriously, there was only one other comment that I made that could have been taken the wrong way. If you did, I'm sorry people, but it's called allegory.

Earlier, somebody brought up behavior in congress, and proposed that that's the proper tone for a political debate. I'm sorry, but I disagree. Give me the British House of Commons any day when it comes to polit speak.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
