Yeah dont get me wrong apple, I'm not against recycling...it's just an interesting fact I heard from my friend who works for the EPA. With our current recycling system, definitely the more people who participate, the better.

HOLY CARP!!!

I think the point apple, isn't that we shouldn't recycle... but with current means of producing energy, it may cost the environment more in the longrun, than the benefit. Now... once I release my cold-fusion plans for world-wide free energy, recycling and all other consumption of power will be clean! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I will then reclaim the world as my own. By the way, CO2, one of the "greenhouse contributors", comes mostly from decaying plant and animal matter. More than from industry, automobiles, etc. |

I certainly don't think we should recycle if it's not worth it economically. Valuable items are recycled. .... like water in the desert. metals and of course, pianos.

REclaim? ![]() I hear ya man...as soon as I stabilize my antimatter production facility.... And you're right about the CO2, farming is the biggest contributor. And did you know that the biggest cause of erosion isn't water, or farming, or deforestation...it's grazing. Animal (cow, sheep, etc.) grazing.

You just don't get it, do you? And yes we have extensive gov't managed and subsidized recycling programs: bottles, cans, plastic containers, paper, cardboard, electronics, household waste- such as paint and tires. The State of California's programs are modelled on the recycling management system we conservatives in Alberta developed on our own and without the help of the Federal G'vt. If you would like the same in your state I would be glad to assist in importing our program to your state for a price- particularly Nevada and Texas neither of which have even figured out how to recycle bottles yet. |

Why should he flog it, Steve. He convinced 70% of Americans and got his way. Larry, I don't respond to you or read your posts any more - except when I see that I am being attacked by you and succumb, against my better judgment, to defending myself. I try to avoid those posts too, but, alas, this one seemed to smack me in the face. Maybe if you can demonstrate for any appreciable period that you are able to discuss without going into attack mode I'll start paying some attention to what you have to say again. 89 - I actually agree with you on something - Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka (both movie and role) were superb. Ooma, Loompa, Loopity Dooo . . . |

Lookit: We are all the same Forum with three different parts. Anybody can crossover anytime to anywhere at anytime to say anything to anyone. Over at the WTF, they take their mandate of "politeness" very seriously--someone (a damnded Liberal of high repute,) attacked me (lightly,) and had the naughty parts of his post deleted. These guys could have let it slide (only TomK getting whacked,), but they they are true to their word. I appreciate that. Also, while I have to be "oh so cute" there old enemies have been more than polite and kind to me. I personally like the tension of TNCR--where a fist fight always has the opportunity of breaking out--I like the Wild West beer and red meat Red State atmosphere of this place, but every now and then when I'm in the mood for a little bree and a little Chardonnay, it's not a bad place to visit. My thoughts are that even though I disagree with "those people," and they disagree with me, they never stopped being my friends. When discussing the details about how this world and this country should be governed there are few points of agreement that I would have with JA or Jack or kathy or Amanda, but as people that I like and trust--as human being--there are few people I admire more. These folks believe what they believe and live out that belief. There's a lot to be said about people that are true to themselves and these folks are a fine a bunch of people as I have ever associated myself with. I think these places need to be separate--but I think we all should visit each other now and then. To say hello, to celebrate weddings and births and funerals and to occasionally remind ourselves that there are people out there no too different than ourselves that have a completely different picture of the world and are committed to their beliefs. No need to post all of the time everywhere, or read all of the post--but it wouldn't hurt if we break down the Berlin Walls of posting and everybody stop by here and there to say hello when the mood hits them. |

Why should this one smack you in the face, Kathy? I wasn't talking to you. Of course, if you'd like to open it up to say that anything negative said about a liberal is offensive to you, that's fine. Then we can also open it up to include the view that anything negative said about conservatives is a slap in the face of conservatives. That would mean that when you or any other liberal trashes Bush, the Bush administration, the Republican party, of Conservatives in general, you have just collectively slapped us all in the face, and we are justified in feeling spoken to and about negatively. I *do* so hope you were able to follow that.
Two thoughts. First, it makes no difference to me whether you pay any attention to wyat I have to say or not. I could be the epitome of social graces, and you *still* wouldn't pay any attention. Second, clean up your own house before telling me where you think mine is dirty. |
