I don't mind the WTF. I certainly learn lots from reading the threads there. Some very intelligent and articulate people post there (& here as well). The WTF pace is different though, slower perhaps. At times it's a bit like saccharin too. I have to admit this, but every time I read the acronym "WTF" ... I'm thinking of 3 words other than the "Well Tempered Forum". I like all 3 forums at present.

Jack I checked it out and even joined. Will probably only post on select threads like the great wine thread you started. btw, just had a bottle of the Nobilo and loved it!! I'm absolutely crazy about NZ Sauvignon Blancs as well and, as a result, have become interested in the South African whites. But like you, haven't tried them yet. How's that for a hijack! |

I'd disagree. There are posting rules over there, and you violated them. I don't expect you to admit or acknowledge that, but it's true anyway. That place is not going to be a trade-your-best-nasty-shots kind of place like the Old Coffee Room, and the moderators are determined to nip any nastiness in the bud. (I'm not one of the moderators, btw.) And KB, I've never ignored anything you've said, here or there. All the inevitable ragging aside, the two forums are just different. It's not that the other forum is homogenous, TomK posts there frequently, as does KB, as does Apple, and I don't think any of them is left of center. Because of the posting rules, the arguments tend to be more polite. It's the difference between intermission at the symphony and half-time an Oakland Raiders football game. I can appreciate each one for what it is. If you don't want to be there, that's your choice; however, just from the posting statistics, you might want to know that there are more posts per day over there, and more new posters in the last couple of weeks, than here. You do have to follow the posting rules, though. People who try to test the limits will find themselves moderated fairly quickly. |

Well, the all knowing, all seeing Quirt has spoken, so that better be the end of it, huh? I guess I don't know what I wrote.... Sorry Quirt, you are wrong. I know that is going to be hard for you to deal with, because you never are.... but in neither instance did I say anything that needed deleting. I've read quite a lot that others have written that should have been deleted however, but it is only when you offend a leftist that the deletions seem to occur. You are allowed to trash the right as hard as you want to. |

Most of the time, it seems that you really aren't aware of exactly how nasty what you say sounds. That's one of the problems with your posts.
No, I'm not. We all know how you hate to be criticized over anything, but you broke the rules, and the rules were enforced. If you don't want to follow the rules, then don't post there.
Wrong again. Your posts are just nastier. It seems that you aren't aware of it, but they are. When you're posts have been edited or deleted, it's because they crossed a line that other posts and other posters haven't crossed. Most posters who post in both places have proven themselves capable of self-moderation. You aren't. In any event, I've been trying not to respond to your posts at all. I only respond when you say something blatantly and outrageously incorrect. I've made my point now, so go ahead and have the last word, sport. |

Me too katie. ![]() WTF?! WTF!?Anyway, I mean...if jack and whoever else want to "merge" why don't they just come over here. From a quick look at both sites, I found this site to be FAR more organized, cleaner, and even more appealing. Larry, what did you write that could have been so bad? Just looking through thread titles over there, you would think all would be fair game. That is...unless you say something bad about liberals.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead

Well.. I go over there, and post.. and in the effort to counter my positions I get things like 'the average Iraqi will tell you how much better things were under Saddam than they are now". Must not have been any of those guys helping tear down his statues, eh? Hmm.. perhaps it was all the citizens who went to vote? No,that doesn't make sense. Then, when I call the poster on defending Saddam's regime, they flipflop, saying of course Saddam was brutal.. BUT no more brutal than all the other dictators we have supported over the past few decades. I don't recall any of those guys.. whoever they might be.. gassing villages of women and children. Then it goes to 'the UN was doing a good job containing Saddam"... the UN's oil for food program was funding the terror that kept him in power. How clear is that. I see no point in posting there, at least on these topics. Facts don't seem to matter.

You know, we really should just quit bringing this topic up. There are people here who will NEVER go over there and post, and there are people there who will NEVER come over here and post. Funny thing is, it seems an awful lot of those people read the threads from both places anyway. But all of us getting along, and becoming one happy/disfunctional family again just isn't going to happen. We need to just face that fact and get over it. Some of you really hate each other. And I don't think any one of these forums is going to win out over the other one either. And, just for the record, I am one of the moderators over there. There are three of us, and we don't always completely agree on stuff, but we are doing the best we can. The main rule is NO PERSONAL ATTACKS. And that does NOT mean no attacks on public figures, it means no personal insults towards the people you are arguing with. As in the people we all know and love (and hate) from the old coffee room. And you know what - there have been exacty five (edit: six) people who have had moderated posts, and the first three (edit: four) were NOT conservatives. (edit: ACK! we're biased! ) Fair is fair, and like I say, we are doing the best we can. That is all I'm going to say on the subject, except that I am tired of seeing WTF brought up over here in a negative way. I like people in both these places, and seeing that sort of stuff makes me really unhappy. Jodi

I'm a member of all 3 forums. And, Jack, it's darn difficult keeping up with all of them. I check into the WTF daily to see what's happening. I disagree with most of the people there but there are many that I like and miss. I'm with you, Jack. I miss the mix. But, having to keep up with 3 forums is difficult therefore most of us will spend most of our time where we feel the most comfortable. And my comfort level is at it's highest here. Sometimes when checking out the WTF I just don't have anything to say. It's all been said before. As much as I try to respect JA and his views his avatar offends me too every time I see it. I don't like looking at it. It makes me ill and uncomfortable. And arguing and debating with a bunch of lawyers when one is not a lawyer isn't a whole lot of fun. I get this feeling over and over again-----> But, all that said, I'll still peek in and see the people I miss. |
