![]() Written by MARV WOLFMAN & GEORGE PÉREZ • Art by GEORGE PÉREZ, MIKE PERKINS and AL VEY • Wraparound cover by GEORGE PÉREZ Twenty years in the making, TEEN TITANS: GAMES is a can't-miss for fans new and old. Harking back to the era when NEW TEEN TITANS was the best-selling monthly comic series comes this lost tale from legendary creators Marv Wolfman (CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS) and George Perez (FINAL CRISIS: LEGION OF THREE WORLDS) starring their fan-favorite characters just in time for the NEW TEEN TITANS' 30th anniversary! Set in the 1980s during the height of the New Teen Titans popularity, this stand–alone hardcover features a mysterious villain playing a deadly game with New York City as the game board–and the Teen Titans as the pieces! Like something out of a time capsule, this never-before-seen epic is the New Teen Titans story from their original creators that has never been told...until now! DC Universe | 144pg. | Color | Hardcover | $24.99 US On Sale November 3, 2010 ************ I'm actually kind of sad that I'm not even remotely enthused for this. It's something that's been in the works for about twenty years. But going back to the time the title was at it's height just seems like a tease right now; feels like a better time to enjoy it would be once the damn franchise gets itself back into shape. Besides which, who knows when it will hit softcover, if ever. |

Its an OGN, and DC always releases its OGNs in softcover eventually. One year after the hardcover is the most likely guess. |

Not always, and even still, the key word being eventually, which could take any length of time; I'm still waiting for a Joker softcover close to two years later and it's not even on tap. |

I prefer the hardcovers myself
If you're refering to that one that came out at about the same time as the as the second film, I would say stop waiting, because it wasn't worth it. My library had a copy so I gave it a chance. It was horrible, and the more you like the characters, the worse it is. The joker wasn't crazy, just a dangerous organized crime leader. Harley showed up, only to do a strip tease and knock a couple guys out later, no lines at all. Croc was made into an urban thug (who's line were kinda seemed like a racist view of black characters) The riddler looked like some kind of emo meth addict (who for some reason had a bad leg, never explained) And (either the writer did no research or he was making a joke that I didn't get at all) The joker always refered to the Penguin as "Abner" and none of the other characters reacted as if it were the wrong name. As for the story, it felt like it wanted to be a mix between "Goof Fellas" and "The Great Gatsby" set in the Batman world. Unfortunately being set in the batman world really ruined it as the characters had to be retooled so much to fit into the story. I thought it was the worst book I had read in a looong time. |

And I hope it isn't the last. I love a good conflict of opinions when everything is kept civil and respectfull. I find you to be the most agreeable person to ever disagree with. Besides I admit that I may be a little to hard to please when it comes to the Joker. I accept nothing but perfection when he is one of the focal characters. Also my dissatisfaction with the book was most likely jaded with my even greater dissatifaction for the character's portrayal in "The Dark Knight" (which is a whole 'nother kettle of fishand this book was designed to exist in the same vain as the film )For me, good joker stories are like Emperor Joker, Going Sane and Arkham Asylum or possibly my favorite (tho non-canon) Joker/Mask I have a first edition of that one

I'm glad to hear it. I do get a bit cranky sometimes though. Games has been pushed back. Details here: http://main.the-bbxrae-shrine.net/2010/08/...es-pushed-back/ Unfortunate - it's already been decades now - but with twenty five pages to go it sounds like the Graphic Novel is close to release regardless, so the wait shouldn't be too horrible. |
