Ugh, major déjà vu vibe gonna on here.

I just hope this "or become something greater than ever" is more along the lines of when she was reborn as a golden spirit or when she was cleansed from evil, cause if Felicia's taken a swing at the "Evil Raven" story-line again, I'm gone.

Personally I think it would be a little late for an "Evil Raven" plot at this point. This is the fourth issue of the story, it seems. Felicia seems to be all but officially confirmed as on her way out. So we may be looking at the second to last issue of the story; or, if not that, only two issues following this one, since such stories very rarely go beyond six issues.

I'm wondering if this might be a storyline designed to give Raven a more defined power set. We've pretty much been running without really knowing just what the hell Raven can do anymore ever since IC. The main story hasn't really started yet though, so it's tough to call.

I think an Evil Raven storyline of some kind has been hinted at for some time now, at least since Titans started. So I'm not really all that surprised that it seems to be coming again. But can I at least hope they do something different with it this time?

No Aquagirl on the cover. Probably doesn't mean anything, but the last time we saw her on a cover she was about to be eaten.

I hope the same thing, if this is what we're headed towards.

Personally, if it's gotta happen, I'd rather the whole "Evil Raven" thing be left to a better writer. I'm hoping that she's not going this route. Personally, I think it would be a bit late in the story to even try, which is part of why I'm skeptical that such is where they're going.

That's basically what I meant when said "I'm gone". Just drawn in some drama, man. :P

Still, I think that we're overdue for a "Raven bein cleansed" story-line.

Oh another Raven goes evil arc, what is this the fourth time or so? Is this because writers just can't think of anything to do with her besides turn her evil all the time?

I'm thinking more along the lines of Raven being under the Wylde's control, unwillingly adhering to his commands and such, and not actually going all evil. Who's knows though...

I've been saying that was a possibility pretty much from the start, but you know, no one listens...

May as well be. The whole "something greater" could be nothing to brag about. Lately, the solicits haven't been living up to what the issue brings up.

If you remember last solicit:
Quote:

Now that Superboy is reunited with the Teen Titans, Wonder Girl’s discovering what having her boyfriend around all the time means — and it’s not all good.

And yet bearly anything between the two was bought up. Just the fact that Cassie's not talkin to Conner.
Where as this could just be Raven bein released from the Wyld's control.

here's the part that intrigues me...

"but will the Wyld be able to let her go?"

Now if the Wyld was trying to hold onto her, I imagine it would read "will the Titans be able to get the Wyld to let go" but the fact that it is asking whether the Wyld will "be able" to let her go makes me wonder if there is something more going on here.

Like, perhaps the Wyld attempts to absorb (or merge or whatever) with Raven and finds out it bit off more than it can chew. Maybe it finds out that it can't control her powers. Or maybe her demon heritage takes over and tries to absorb the Wyld into itself rather than the other way around.

As for if this is another Evil Raven story, there is one thing that can save it for me. As we all remember, at the end of Rae's last evil stint, she gave all the Titans impliments to kill her. Out of all those Titans, only Gar will be in this story. So tho another evil Rae story would be really lame, it could be awesome if at the end it looks as tho Gar has to kill her right before thinking of another solution. Lets not lose heart yet, this could turn into awesomness...

I wouldn't take this to mean much. First off, the color is off on the background charaters, so it may not be white boots but green shown through a gray filter. Also this cover also has cassie with her bracelettes though she hasn't worn those in a while too. This may just mean that the cover was drawn with minimal attention toward the characters current costumes. Lastly, this isn't the finished product. When the final coloring and shading come in, we may see that calve look more green.

But, if all of this is wrong and they do give him boots again all I can say is this...

We'll have the exact opposite reaction then.

I'd honestly like to be able to take one of my favorite characters seriously again.

Ok well if he does get boots again, I won't like it, but at least I'll have the consolation of knowing that some of my friends are at least happy for it

Sorry dude. I just don't think most characters can rock the barefoot crimefighting look and still be able to be taken seriously. I mean, Beast is the primary exception - he works well whether he's going with or without boots - but he's a mutant that's got a half human half animal form.

I'm not devaluing your opinion or anything, just to clarify; I just really, really do not like the barefoot look and it honestly makes it hard to take Gar seriously at the moment.

Anyways, I wonder what this Coven backup is going to be like. I think it's supposed to start with the upcoming issue. Could be an interesting dichotomy; a magic based backup actually strikes me as something that wouldn't really be out of place teamed with the Teen Titans lead feature.

Honestly? With the backups, I would prefer if DC gave some of them to creators and let them make new characters. I like the co-feature idea a lot. But it's mostly been used to prop up existing characters thus far. This is good to some extent and should continue - I mean, for every off kilter one you have a pairing like Booster Gold with a Blue Beetle backup that's just short of genius - but I think it shouldn't rule the feature.

I mean, some classic characters started up in backup features and anthologies. Martian Manhunter, for instance, was a backup in Detective Comics, which is where he got his start and built up momentum. It'd be a good way to get new concepts out there without making them sink or swim on their own.

never thought that for an instant, my friend. On that note I hope it is understood that I don't mean to undermine your credibility either

Also, the Coven back up does start with next week's issue. That means the Ravager backup has ended. Did anyone follow that? What is the situation with Rose? Any possibility of her coming back to the team and kicking Cassie out?

As for the Coven it's self, it may not be creating new characters but it is forming a new team, which with some support, may establish itslef within the DCU. I like the idea of a magic based team (tho I'm not too found of any of the three involved) However, if they use this backup and bring Eddie back, then I'd be interested. I don't think it would be too far a stretch to have Zack find a way to bring back his friend (but it's probably just wishful thinking)
