How encouraging...

I really need to hear some good news soon; I'm starting to get despondent, which there's already enough of in this damn fandom...

Well, I don't have any good news concerning the Teen Titans fandom...but don't forget about ROBW. That has to be good enough as a pick-me-up. :D8:

I just sort of...ignore TT right now because of all this, and focus on other things. Like ROBW, and the upcoming renumbering of the WW book. (Yay!) If it's dragging you down, man, put a little distance between it, even though it might sound harsh. What can I say? I can be a simple gal. Bad feelings = get away for a while. Not in all cases, but some.

I've been putting a little distance between me and TT lately. So much of this is up in the air, and so far Felicia Henderson's run has been ultra frustrating in that she keeps taking her good ideas and shooting herself in the kneecap with poor execution.

This issue was worth getting back for a little while, but unless there is something announced in the mean time I'll probably be mostly quiet until this arc is over.

It's really the fandom and general pessimism that gets me down more than the book does.

oh, I forgot to mention that while they were captive, Cassie cast alot of blame on her leading abilities.

I don't think this is time to be very worried. I think Henderson is trying to lay clues for where these characters are ending up (she's doing it poorly no doubt, but intention is worth something)

Maybe its too much to hope, but I'm wondering if they're setting Gar up for something big. They keep going back to his self-doubts in such a way that its sounds to me like a plot point for something coming up.

I don't think that's a completely outrageous idea. He has been showing up in alot of non-Titans books as of late. It seems that DC wants people outside the titans fanbase to at least have a passing knowledge of his existance. Perhaps He may be a side player in one of the upcoming cross-over stories.

Who knows? Maybe Geoff will make Gar a White Lantern?

...That was a joke, by the way. Only the White Lantern part, the rest was sincere...

Now we just need a self sacrifice for the others to get out of there.

"GOOOOO! RUUUUUN! GET TO DA CHOPPAH!"

And then the site is nuked from orbit.

I know this was a joke, but I just wanted to say that I doubt we're going to see any more White Lanterns other than the one we have.

I could see--in a future time line or alternate one--Raven becoming a Blue Lantern. On the flip side of her angst--especially in the post-Trigon era--she as about hope against all adversity.

Its that flip side of her character that everyone except a few people--Geoff Johns, Devin Grayson--always seem to forget. Raven, like Gar, gets stuck in this near endless loop of getting ready to move forward, only to be brought back to square one again. Lazy, uninspired writing, honestly. Drama needs to be there, but you don't have to keep retreading old ground.

Still, I think the Blue Lantern angle meshes well with her--it would make for a good climax to a story where she finally does overcome her heritage and embraces hope and a brighter future. The Blue Lantern abilities mesh well with her, too, since they are not offensive in nature, and focus more on healing.

Plus, they need to be around a Green Lantern to be at peak abilities, so that helps stop her from becoming Mary Stu-ish.

RAVEN AS BLUE LANTERN TO EARTH!

Eh... the last thing I want is for Raven to get mixed up in the Lantern franchise. You think she's marginalized now, it would only be worse then. Plus there's the whole casualty thing to worry about whenever there's a war breakout.

I don't know, I think if Raven became any lantern, it would probably be the Indigo Tribe. They are a little more mystic and their powers are more empathy driven.

But it does raise an interesting question: If the highly unlikely event came that our Titans became lantern recruits, which color would they embody?

I can't really pic one for BB. His creativity would certainly work for a green lantern, but that seems too redundant...

Gar's kind of hard to pin down. But I can't see him as one really suiting the Lantern stuff anyways. Same for Raven. Which makes the argument somewhat moot.

But then again, you wouldn't expect Donna Troy to have been a Darkstar and that happened.

Theres only a few people I could see as Lanterns. Gar and Raven aren't among them. I mean, I can see folks like Batman, Supes, Aquaman, big the name heroes as sorta falling into that catergory, but then you gotta ask, they already have their own powers and abilities, why add a ring to it? Just seems like you're overpowering them.

Supes and Bats especially because the former is basically a God and the latter is the goddamn Batman. They're already awesome on their own do they really need a lantern ring?

Yeah.

Still, the idea is pretty awesome. Well, for Batman, not Supes. But that could be just because I'm biased. :awesome:

Anyway, I think it'd be interesting to see some of the "lesser" heros get pulled into the lantern deal. I mean, we've already had some big names pulled in Blackest Night. Which I really want to come out in trade now so I can read it. :meh2:

But I digress.

Sure it's moot, and really any of the the other super heroes gaining lantern powers is redundant and unnecessary, but sometimes it can work. If you're writing some big, climactic event and in that event you set up an obvious one-in-a-million scenario where the super heroes are granted the one ultra ability that can stop the threat, then it cool to see your characters pushed to new hieghts that in other moments would seem rediculous, all the while understanding that this is a one time occurance and once it is over the status quo will be restored. Sure it seems pointless for Flash and Wonder Woman and Atom to get more powers since they are well off with the ones they already have. But for this one single story it's cool to see them doing something they'll never do again. It's kinda like an else world story that is happening in the main DCU.

Awwwwwwww, poor Gar. I can tell Raven doesn't like watching him kick himself around.

Maybe it's looking up, a bit.
